A round-up of transfer rumours and speculation from around the web

Liverpool are being linked with a move for a striker at French club Lyon.

But before you go getting excited... it's not Alexandre Lacazette.

Instead, Italian outlet Calcio Mercato say Liverpool scouts have been monitoring 20-year-old Frenchman Maxwel Cornet.

The France U21 striker has scored seven goals in 33 games for Lyon this season, and the Italian publication reckons Jurgen Klopp is keeping tabs on him as a possible replacement for Daniel Sturridge.

Despite being just 20, Cornet has already played 93 Ligue 1 games, scoring 19 goals.

Meanwhile Liverpool are said to be edging ahead of the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City in the race to sign Ryan Sessegnon.

The Sunday Express are reporting that the 16-year-old has been scouted by most of Europe's top teams but the Reds are showing the most interest.

Fulham are said to be want Sessegnon back on loan next season if they agree to sell in the summer.

Sessegnon has been a regular for the Cottagers this term, despite his youthful years.

His name sounds like he should be an extra large ice cream.

How the fuck do parents not realise this shit?!

He's got a decent goal return for a left/right winger, seeing as he doesnt play as a striker.

Regardless, how many 19-20 year old strikers have a great goalscoring record anyway at this point in their careers?

I think its an ice cream related pun/joke.

Obviously i've never seen Cornet play - but all the descriptions are of someone who is suited to playing in a fluid front line like we have.

To have done what he has at age 20 is promising and indicative that he could progress to being a good player in the Premier League. Our problem is and always has been that if he's not ready immediately, we don't seem to know how to bridge the gap.

We're far from great at developing players who are close to being good enough for a top 6 team.

We should be all over Lacazette and only him. Get rid of Sturridge and sign him, then worry about the others.

I have not seen much of Lacazette either so I can't advocate a case if he suits us better than Studge i.e. It is a big transfer window coming up as I expect Klopp and his team has had time enough to identify who picks up on their ideas and demands and who needs to build a career elsewhere, which is fair enough. Furthermore they should have a target list of who can come in and push for a start place and who can come to challenge the starters. I guess Mane and Matip was the first category and Grujic typical last category last summer. This time around the quantity in both categories would be more than last summer.

Yeah, I figured that in the end. But it is Dreamy, so you never know..

Cornet would be a good addition from the little I've seen. Can play anywhere across the attack and seems to have a lot of the attributes we are missing when Mane isnt available.

The big question is obviously as you say if he isnt ready from the start and what effect that will have.
