According to Spanish media he's leaving his role as DoF at Sevilla.
FSG are apparently fans of his and his next job could be in England. Spent 6 months living in London studying the Premier league and how the English set up works. Previously rejected an offer from Spurs.

Would be fantastic if we somehow managed to get him.

AS say there was a ‘tense’ meeting on Monday afternoon. Estadio Deportivo say Monchi will explain his reasons for departing shortly.

United don't need him – they have bags of money and Sergio Mendes's client list (Mourinho always buys players from him). You don't need a great DOF if you're one of 2 richest clubs in the world – a team like us would be a much more natural fit.

Jorge Mendes..Unless the Brazilian Latin Jazz music legend is somehow helping United.

He's been a one-club man up till now. I just wonder if moving not only to another club but to another country altogether will work out.

This would represent a unbelievable coup for FSG if we somehow convinced him of a Klopp/Monchi dream team to revive Anfield.

I can't see him coming to the UK unless it's for money.. Signing non EU players before they become famous is near impossible with current work permit laws. From memory.. to play in Britain, players need to have played a handful of games in succession for a nation that sits in the top 7o FIFA rankings. Most Brazilians are hyped to fuck and are valued at 20million + before they earn their first international cap. He has made a living gambling on South American talent because Spain have very different regulations.

He would need to focus on European talent and try and snap them up young. This has been done for years by Chelsea and Man City and it can be argued that it hasn't worked. Players have become successful.. but it's generally after they have left due to lack of opportunities .

I agree. I cannot see him being as successful with the Latin American market due to immigration and worker laws. But I think he can definitely help us in capturing the top talents in Spain who are not at Barcelona or Real.

[article]Everton will make an ambitious move to try to tempt Sevilla sporting director Monchi to Goodison Park following suggestions in Spain that he is ready for a new challenge.

Monchi is regarded as one of the top transfer chiefs in world football and Everton accept the likelihood of landing the 47-year-old appears slim, given his reputation in Europe.

But that will not stop majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri attempting to sell his dream for Everton to Monchi and offering him the chance to spend £100million to help take the club into the Champions League. It is understood Monchi is attracted to the idea of working in England and Manchester United have already been linked with him, while Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool have made unsuccessful enquiries in the past.

Tottenham and manager Mauricio Pochettino have already overhauled the club’s scouting network, which means Everton may be one of few English options left available to Monchi. Moshiri has already held talks with Sevilla manager Unai Emery over the vacant job at Everton and would love to pair him with Monchi at Goodison Park.

But, regardless of whether or not Everton land Emery, Moshiri is keen to appoint a sporting director to work alongside whoever eventually succeeds Roberto Martinez as manager. It is unlikely that any of the candidates for the Everton job, including Emery, Ronald Koeman, Frank De Boer and Manuel Pellegrini, would object to working with Monchi, given his highly impressive CV.

Everton will not just face competition from Premier League clubs should Monchi quit Sevilla, however, with Real Madrid thought to be attracted to him. Monchi, whose real name is Ramon Rodriguez Verdejo, spent six months in England in the 2013/14 season but said it was to learn English to help his work with Sevilla, rather than preparation for a move to the Premier League.

He has been the brains behind Sevilla winning nine trophies in 10 years while making a £152m profit in the transfer window. The Spanish club clinched their third successive Europa League title by beating Liverpool in the final this season.

Of all his impressive transfer deals, Monchi rates Dani Alves, Luis Fabiano and former West Ham United and Tottenham striker Fredi Kanoute as his top three. Alves was signed as a 19-year-old for around £150,000 and sold to Barcelona for £27m six years later, Fabiano scored over 100 goals for the club and Kanoute helped Sevilla win six titles after signing for just £5m from Spurs.

According to reports in Spain, Monchi has fallen out with Sevilla officials and cancelled a scheduled club TV appearance and an interview that was planned for Tuesday morning.

Other than Monchi, Everton have considered former Arsenal player Marc Overmars and ex-Liverpool scout Eduardo Macia for a sporting director role with the club facing a tricky summer. Striker Romelu Lukaku and central defender John Stones are expected to leave Goodison Park, while Everton could also receive bids for Ross Barkley and Seamus Coleman.

But no matter who goes, the club’s next manager will be expected to challenge for European qualification.[/article]

While there were those South Americans he unearthed which wouldn't have meet the work permit criteria like:
  • Julio Baptista - Sao Paulo
  • Adriano - Coritiba
  • Daniel Alves - Bahia
  • Federico Fazio - Ferro Carril
his successful signings were not limited to those... ...
  • Gary Medel - signed from Universidad Católica in 2011 (international debut at 2007)
  • Seydou Keita - signed from Lens
  • Carlos Bacca - signed from Club Brugge in 2013 (international debut at 2010)
  • Ivan Rakitic - signed from Schalke
  • Geoffrey Kondogbia - signed from Lens
  • Aleix Vidal - signed from Almeria
  • Martin Caceres - signed from Barcelona
  • Luis Fabiano - signed from Porto in 2005 (international debut at 2003)
  • Alvaro Negredo - signed from Real Madrid (was on loan at Almeria for 2 seasons) in 2009
  • Coke (yes the one who scored against us) - signed from then 2nd division Rayo Vallecano in 2011
  • Kevin Gameiro - signed from PSG
  • Grzegorz Krychowiak - signed from Reims
Not forgetting academy players who were sold too - Jose Antonio Reyes, Sergio Ramos, Alberto Moreno, Jesus Navas, Luis Alberto etc.

AS are going with a story that the Mancs are confident they'll land him ... M&M ... nice summer for them arleady the fucking cuntstains.

You cannot ask a Liverpool fan to say anything rationally positive about those cunts dude ...

Ha! Thats not really what I meant. Monchi appaz works best when he's in complete control, will he he given that by Mourinho? Doubtful.

I can't see that with Klopp either. i think klopp wants control over spending, that's one side of the English game foreign managers like. When he first joined they mentioned about the transfer committee, his comments were something like "as long as I have the first word and last word what happens in between I don't care"

That list Binny posted until Perotti was impressive.. It was almost a 'we can't leave a blank line' entry.

A fair few on that list were slow burners to adapt to la liga though.

Isn't he known for finding players who cost feck all only to sell them on for millions? That model is perfect for a club like Sevilla but will that transfer policy be wanted at United ? Unless they are gonna let Monchi find players who Mourinho will work with and develop into stars.

I think the part of the model of most interest to United is the "finding great players at reasonable prices" bit. I'm sure the rest is subject to change, and the two aren't linked, because it would seem odd that that it is possible to buy good players cheaply, but if they aren't "sold on for millions" the whole thing collapses.
