So how's the new stand coming along? I'm sure all the local lads on here like to sneak a peak whenever you are near. How does it look? Do you know when will it be ready? Are you happy with it? The concept art for the finished thing looks classy I thought.

Should be done by our first home match. It's massive. It's a shame the Kop will be dwarfed bit it's a big step on the right direction.

I thought the reason we wanted our first few games (is it three ?) away from home is that it won't be ready until September ?

Late August is the current target. First 2 games will be away. I think the third's to provide a bit of breathing room.

I can't see any major issues with the stand being delayed beyond this point. I suspect work ensuring safe access / paths / walkways / public transport could prove more complicated.

What about time for pitch to recover?

There's not going to be much time for that. It will be poor at the beginning, but given we don't have European football this year the grounds man should be able to get it to a decent enough standard.

Werent we getting a new pitch regardless? Both at Anfield and Melwood. That was mentioned last summer

Work on the new pitch to commence this week as per a poster on RAWK who works for the company the club has hired to relay the new pitch

He was a week or two premature.
New season preparations are continuing at Anfield at pace - and the pitch has been officially handed back to the stadium's ground staff ahead of 2016-17.
Liverpool FC head groundsman David Roberts was given the playing surface on Friday by construction workers after the successful completion of demolition works.
It marked the exit of assembly vehicles from inside the stadium after the existing Main Stand was demolished and a new lower tier and seating installed.
The important task of reseeding the pitch started over the weekend and the surface will be ready for its first cut in the coming weeks.
The redeveloped stand will comprise of three tiers, with the recently installed lower tier seating more than 9,000 fans on a matchday.

The club crest going up on the main stand

I was hoping they'd go old school & use the basic crest instead tbh.

The shankly gates are actually at the ground as is the eternal flame, so having them represented in metal form on a wall seems a bit daft to me.

That said this whole two crest thing seems a bit daft tbh.

Hope there is some fucking leg room in this fucker unlike most of Anfield

A-men! I still remember how small the seats were at the centenary stand – I was extremely lucky that nobody was sitting in front of me, or my knees would be in somebody's back.

The Lower Centenary has always been terrible for leg room, going back to the days when it was the Kemlyn Road Stand.

The Upper Cenny is glorious, could fit a bus in those seats, the Anfield Road end of the other hand, fuck me.
