Number 1 priority

Get rid of Mignolet asap and bring in a keeper who isn't fucking horrendous.

Well, it was the priority five or six months ago, right?
Moreno has been labelled an excellent acquisition, as well as completely shit, all in the space of nine months - his first nine months at the club at the age of 20, I might add.
Same applies to Lazar. Henderson had it the season before.

I think our priority at the moment is to keep this young squad together and see how our recent signings get on next year before we consider the prospect of another squad overhaul.
We've got some really fine looking talent coming up the youth ranks and there are a handful who are ready to feature a bit next season and add to the squad.

Can, Sakho, Moreno, Manquillo, Sterling, Markovic, Ibe - these are all players that you can realistically expect improvement from next season.

I'm not suggesting that we don't buy anyone this summer, but I don't think we should go about replacing any of our players under 27, unless they are Italian of course. Let's give this team another year together and see what develops.

I fucking love Lucas. If it was up to me, he would be captain.
Same here.
Hes grown into a great player over the years. Its a shame hes had so many bad injuries. Hopefully all behind him now.

It's kinda the point I was trying to make with this thread. Players can improve, and form is temporary.

There's a lot of talk recently about needing players with balls, or needing to buy "winners", whatever the fuck that means.
Most people wrote Hendo off as having no balls or not having a winning mentality. Look at him now.

We win one game and suddenly the future is red again.

If we lose the next and Ming drops a clanger or Lucas mishits a back pass this thread will take an altogether different tone.

Not trying to discount the points above. All valid and I agree with them too. But just musing the sometimes hilarity of the fickleness and inconsistency of us fans.

I agree and I would guess management is aware they need to give their investments time.

We're definitely in need of reinforcements (primarily in the striking department) but the departures of Gerrard, Johnson and a few others will hopefully free up some cash to make that happen.

Off the field I would suggest the clubs administration needs an overhaul such that financial negotiations and club discipline are conducted privately.

On the field we are goal shy and this needs addressing as number 1 priority.

Good on you for highlighting the fact that we need improvement off the field as well as on it. I'm convinced that that, and the fact that it's too often been left unaddressed, is the biggest single factor in our drop off the top of the game during the last quarter of a century. I'm actually optimistic that FSG understand this and are addressing it, but we defo have a way to go yet.

I'm curious as to how things/negotiations can be done quietly. Back in the day of secret or surprise transfers we didn't have these modern type of agents who make as much as possible public through Twitter, TV interviews and slipping info to their Sports Writer buddies, all in an effort to whore out their clients or get the fans rilled up to force the clubs hand.

I fucking love Lucas. If it was up to me, he would be captain.

Whats the point of a captain who averages about 25 games a season, it would be Jamie Redknapp all over again. Added to that hes 29 next season, how much longer is he going to be at the club
