Right, been months since I started a thread and now two in five minutes.

Odegaard is apparently coming to Melwood to go through the facilities and speak with Rodgers. He's an unabashed Liverpool fan so you can see where we could have an advantage over some other clubs. He's apparently already visited Madrid and is scheduled to do the same with City, Bayern and Ajax.

It's not easy getting much viewing time of his matches but I've watched or recorded when I can.

He's got the dribbling skills and flair you'd expect from a kid dubbed as potentially the best in the world. He's also got a nice change of pace and can see a pass if not at the same level of Coutinho.

What has made me think he would be a good signing is his ability to ride tackles and hold off players. For a 15 year old to be doing that against grown men is a great sign - he doesn't look like going down and is happy to scrap it out for the ball where necessary. Added to this is his quick thinking - he sees plays clearly ahead of many of his teammates and its obvious that many of them have to react to opportunities they never saw the potential of until he set it up.

I'm sure there are others who've been watching him far more closely this season so what is the consensus? Is he someone we should be making an effort for? Does he look a certainty or is he mostly just hype?

I'd be thrilled if we got him. Of course you can never really tell until they arrive and play some games in this league, but he looks the real deal to me - skillful, quite fast, surprisingly tough, aware, clever and very confident.

I'd vote 'no idea' yet ... I started a thread on him a few months ago, and I have to say for a 15 year old doing what he's doing - regardless of the league - is incredible. I'm not going all Glocky on you here (Adu > Rooney), but Adu wasn't playing in the MLS regularly @ 15 or even close to the US international set up. This kid is, and looking comfortable at every single level he's gotten to.

Talent is there.

It'd be ridiculous not to take a punt. The talents there and he's already making a name for himself at international level

I'd be up for signing him and then letting Ajax have him for a couple years on loan.

Yep, I'd think this is the best option as well.

Rodgers has done well with Sterling but Ajax have done it for decades.

You could just see the fans going nuts and clamouring for him to be bought over early if he does well though - just like Origi.

He's going to be a fantastic player. Wanted by just about every club in Europe.
I'd sign him and let him go out on loan for a few years as Keni says.

Massive Liverpool fan. Him and his dad.

I refuse to take anyones opinion on this apart from KHL. Where is our Skando friend ?

On a serious note. If he's potentially as good as made out and he's a Liverpool fan we should be sorting this out or someone deserves a severe volleying in the bollocks

Apparently he's very level headed and determined to do what's right for his career, and is adamant he won't go into academy football, so I'd say someone like Ajax have a serious chance. But he's become such a hot property now that I wonder if they could actually afford him - maybe that could be the deciding factor in our favour? Not such a powerhouse club that he won't get chances, but big enough to pay whatever huge fee he'll go for now.

It's hard to avoid what Lippy said, though, really: if we can't get a deal like this over the line someone needs shooting.

Ha ha - he's Danish, not Norwegian. You need Modo for this scouting trip.

Kristian asked for his account to be deleted. Liverpool sold Agger as protest ... and he's started some online Danish newspaper and seems happy n' shit.

He's very level headed and wont sign for a club were he wont be involved with the first team.
He's got 1 year left on his contract, expires 1/1 - 2016.
I'm guessing if they sell him now he'll go for 2-4 mill £ and loads of incentives.

If we sign Ødegaard I'll be defending him now matter how shite he is, true fact.

Let's hope his writing is better than his defending

He is only 15 so will not be on a professional contract. I reckon that puts him in the Ajax price range.

I understood he wasn't going to be signing any contract until the day of his 16th birthday. Presumably the point just now is to agree with him who that contract should be with.

2-4m? I'd have been expecting it to be a bit more than that, Hansern. Is that really the estimate in Norway?

He looks a fair bit better than a heap of other "wonderkids" who I seem to remember all going for more than 4m.

With only one year left on his contract and not wanting to sign a new one I expect them to accept a fee in that region mate. Thats a lot of money for a Norwegian club. Maybe the interest could increase it to 5 mill but Ødegaard will decidec where he goes regardless of any bidding war.
I'd expect them to get plenty of incentives in there mind so the deal could be worth a lot more.

I don't know why - I thought he had almost 2 years left on his current deal.

Anyway, I'd have expected them to want more than 4m when clubs like Madrid, Bayern, Liverpool, the Mancs etc are all wanting the player. Happy if that's not the case, though since a bidding war isn't what we want.
