Opening Weekend's other footy

Are Chelsea that good? Burnley that bad ? Or both ?
This could be embarrassing for Burnley. Chelsea look like scoring every time they go forward
Burnley are THAT bad. Ings, Shackell and Trippier are the only ones who could make an impact at this level. Marney is miles away from this standard, Duff is a solid lower level defender but no where close to this level and the rest are good Championship players playing above their level.

missed all 3 goals fuck sake

but just in time for a gerrard chant

The thing about Chelsea though is that they had a good enough team/squad to win the league last season, not withstanding their lack of firepower up front, but were somewhat hampered bu their managers cautious and conservative approach to most games.
I am hoping against hope for a similarly cautious approach this season but I an far from confident.

Was never going to always happen. At all

A simple victory yes, but to potentially steamroller a team on the opening weekend doesn't happen that often.

13 wins in the last 15 opening games. 5 straight wins under Mourinho.
I think always going to happen was a good shout

A win sure, But not a steamroller performance . Chelsea have done the damage and showed how effective they can be.

The Chelsea fans seem to be singing their own version of 'We are Liverpool tra la la la la'

I fucking despise their attempt at having a song to the same tune as Luis Garcia. They just hum half the song where words are meant to go. Fucking cunts.

On the plus side, Costa hasn't been great.

Just think they'll create chance after chance for him

hopefully fabregas starts getting those niggly injuries again shortly and hazard develops some new ones

He seems to be struggling in aerial battles - which isn't really something to be too ashamed of - but he's getting frustrated by it ...

Mourinho shutting down shop @ 3-1. He can hopefully be their Achilles heel

They looked good. Best performance by any of the top teams.
Burnley will probably show a much better side of themselves during the season but I cant see anything but relegation.
Marney and Jones in central midfield. That was brutal.

Ings looked decent.

Thought Hendo's pass to Raheen was better than the Fabregas one.

Totally agree. I semi expect Rodgers to say something like that when he gets the chance, he's one for making sure his players get the praise they deserve.

I don't think I could agree with that. The technique for Fabregas's pass was simply world class.

Actually the whole goal was brilliant. One of the best I've ever seen in the PL.

The last line is a bit excitable, but I agree with the first bit.

I don't agree about the pass but it's a much better goal. It's a good excuse to look at them both again, you could argue that a pass like Hendersons is a much tougher technique to master with your bad foot.
