Couldn't see a thread on this.

Looks like Everton are indeed splashing the cash this summer.

30m bid for keeper Jordan Pickford has been accepted.

He's a better keeper than either of ours. Looking at their other purported targets they could be building a very good side, esp if they're prepared to spend that kind of cash on a keeper.

If they spend more than us this summer I'm gonna be fucking fuming. We need to make the best of the fact we finally have CL footy again & ensure we push on from this & strengthen both the first side significantly & bolster the squad.

He's not really though is he? He's had one good season in the PL and is 23 years old. He could develop into a good goalkeeper obviously, but 30 mill £ is a lot of money for him. He's also a bit of a short arse. Meh.

I'm not surprised if Everton have bid the full price for him - they need to do that to put down a marker and give them any chance of getting him.

I would be surprised if Pickford chooses them over the other options that this will flush out - prob Arse, Scum (if DeGeha goes), and maybe us (if it doesn't transpire that we've been tapping him up already and therefore get handed a transfer ban)

By the way - how about this for a conspiracy theory - you don't suppose that a transfer ban would be quite convenient for our owners do you???

I cant see Arsenal, us or Utd spending 30 mill on Pickford. You can get much better goalkeepers from outside the PL for that type of fee.
Pickford strikes me as one of those players who have been made to look even better than what he is, due to the fact that Sunderland were shockingly poor.

A 15-year-old kid born and raised in Denmark with a Syrian/Iraqi background is being touted as the next big thing (some out-of-this-world bold/stupid Messi comparisons has been thrown around already).

According to his big sister and his dad, they are considering offers from Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Chelsea, United, PSG and Lyon. NIKE has just recently signed him up as well, which apparently means a lot in those circles. Been training/hiding somewhere in Germany for the past half year preparing for his first Senior contract when he turns 16 (the reason he has still not played at Int. Level is, that when the U15 team tried to call him up he was gone for Germany to train somewhere unknown).

I don't know much about him, I have seen the odd clips but I have no idea how good he really is. But I do hope our scouts are aware of him is all.

Only picture of him where's not just a tiny kid..

You already have the Danish Ronaldinho....

Yep. Overhyped. He dives around quite abit (show boating) and is kind of small.

30M should be the price to pay for a keeper who saved his club from relegation, not one who went down in flames with the rest of them.

£30m is indeed a remarkable sum of money for such an unproven talent.

And we've seen ourselves the problems with goalkeepers from relegated sides, who are naturally much busier and make more saves, and the difference between playing for a shit team and playing for Liverpool (Kirkland).

It will be interesting to see how he performs when the expectations and pressure are higher (well, a bit higher at Woodison). As a keeper he looks very agile and made some very eye-catching saves, in quite a few MOTM displays, and he seems to be quite well-rounded and confident. His long kicking is also impressive, although there were a few times when his short kicking got them into trouble, from what I recall.

So he has talent, but we've seen "talent" before, indeed Everton will have Richard Wright lurking in the back of their minds.

Everton were desperate for a top quality goalkeeper, so this is an understandable gamble if it happens. We shall see if it is money well spent

Poor King Binny. He has a stickied thread and everything and you still couldn't see it.

Pickford is a good keeper. If we were signing him, you'd all be convincing yourselves he was the second coming.

30 mill £ makes him the 3rd most expensive goalkeeper in the world. Jordan. Pickford. Its an insane amount of money for such an unproven player.

"The deal for Pickford is reportedly set to include a number of clauses and add-ons that could eventually push the price towards Sunderland’s £30m valuation of the player"

Probably closer to £20m with clauses like international caps, qualifying for CL, league appearances and sell on fee etc.

On a side note, the figures flying around is also one of the reasons why I am increasing less bothered about player transfer fees and wages. The clubs should know better whether they can manage it financially - regardless of how ridiculous the numbers may be to the public. Besides the distorted market, the astronomic TV broadcast deals, sponsorships and agent involvements etc. are more complex than what we perceive.

Lets hope Sunderland didn't agree to CL qualification or winning trophies as add ons in the deal. Might as well agree to a clause about Pickford being part of the first settlers in a new civilization on Mars.
