Bored watching the telly at teatime, I flicked over and saw the end of some weird charity game, England Legends v Germany Legends. The beauty of this, though, was the fact that while the England team was mainly full of idiot actors and comedians, the Germans completely ignored the remit and turned up with a full squad of top ex-pros, captained by Ballack, and thrashed them. The crowd was mute with bemusement, and the tiny handful of English ex-pros (Rio Ferdinand especially) looked ready to sue whoever got them into this mess. I do love these hopelessly badly organised events, it's what the British do better than anyone else.

I'd have said that was entirely German to miss the point. I guess commemoration doesn't play a big part in their culture. That and grace.
 
I didn't see all of it but what I saw I found really funny. It was sort of like watching dads trying really aggressively to humiliate their kids in a backyard kickabout. It was the shocked reaction of those watching, who were expecting lots of good-natured messing about, that made me laugh. (Mind you, seeing those German players clatter into the likes of Jack Whitehall was quite amusing, too!)
 
There's surely a good chance this could descend into something quite violent, which is why I'm watching. I'm such a purist!
 
Fuck any situation that might bring a fleeting glimmer of happiness into John Terry's life.
 
Probably best that Leicester win it tonight really. Bit shit for the team and the genuine fans but fuck me they've gained a load of whoppers recently. They were singing the national anthem and banging inflatable clappers to make noise last time. Horrendous.
 
A super contentious last minute penalty for Chelsea which they score to get the draw would be just perfect.
 
Fucking knew it. This Chelsea team are planning their new careers in PSG and God knows where else right now.

I happened to have itv on for the whatever region Leicester is in earlier, you can get fucking vardy burgers from the chippy. No wonder the fan base has an increased percentage of morons.
