Last 10 matches (total)

1 Chelsea 10 9 0 1 +13 27
2 Tottenham 10 8 0 2 +20 24
3 Manchester Utd 10 6 4 0 +9 22
4 Arsenal 10 6 2 2 +13 20
5 Liverpool 10 5 4 1 +9 19
6 Manchester City 10 6 0 4 0 18
7 West Bromwich 10 5 1 4 3 16

We are only just ahead of the freefailing City, have been outscored by the other top teams and our goal difference is taking a hit.

At what stage do start to get worried?
Will Coutinho ignite our season again and bring us back to where we were when we were ripping everyone to shreds.

Coutinho can be a catalyst, a player who elevates the game of others, so his return should see an improvement in the form of Firmino at least.

Henderson is back, so really the only player missing now is Mane. Once he's back it will allow us to play our best team and that should be what drives an improvement in form.

I just hope Senegal get knocked out of the Um Bongo Cup soon, but Mane keeps scoring for them.

Not sure what the hell is going on with Matip, but hopefully he should be available sooner rather than later also.

We've played Everton (A), City, Utd (A) and Soton (A) during those 10 league games though.
Draws against West Ham and Sunderland and the loss to Bournemouth werent good enough mind.

We've had some injury issues, Mane away at the AFCON and the least rest between games of all the top teams in the league during Christmas. Its not so strange that we are a bit behind.

We havent played our first choice front 4-5 since Coutinho got injured against Sunderland. We've still been averaging nearly 2 goals pr game though but conceded some soft ones.

If we dont beat Swansea, then I'd start to get a bit worried.

The big problem is letting leads slip. Bournemouth, Sunderland, yesterday. I thought we'd got over that.

Anyways, 12 away games, 9 home games, still in the hunt. Not bad. Need to kick on though.

Over those 10 league matches, we dropped 3 points against Bournemouth (leading 3-1), 2 points against Sunderland (leading 2-1) and another 2 against Man Utd (leading 1-0). All 5 goals costing us points were conceded after 75 mins.

Considering we were leading 1-0 before going 2-1 down to West Ham at home, that can be considered 2 points dropped too.

Fatigue? Tactical awareness to see out game?

While various factors affect how the 2nd half table is (for example the teams may be trailing and had to push for equalizer or winner), how Chelsea take advantage of their lead or Tottenham manage to step up a gear or two is evident.

It's really rare to keep pretty much the same level of performance up across the whole season, of course, so a dip is to be expected. What's important is that we recover with a good bounce as soon as possible. As said above, having hendo and cout back will help greatly. If we bounce back and soon, and we'll, then top four is looking good. But judging how tight it is with the chasing pack, I still think we need an addition in this window to cement top four and maybe even push for the title.

When we have Mane, Coutinho and Matip back in the team regularly then things will be sound.... we just gotta hope we can pull through til then....

We deffo have to beat Chelsea though when we play them.

The league has gone, forget about that. But for the top 4, our form is fine considering some of the games we've been playing and over the busy xmas period without key players. If we had a full, fit squad, we'd be laughing.
I'd like us to bring in another pacey forward this window, but that's not gonna happen. But no, nothing to worry about.

No it isn't, second best away form this season behind Chelsea we've had a tough run of games in pretty short space of time. Our tough start to the season in terms of fixtures could work out well for us in the run in.

We've played every top team bar City away and have the second best away record in the league. If you cant be happy with that then there is something seriously wrong.

If by form you mean results we've just gone to the form team in the league and got a point having deserved all three. I'm disappointed we didn't get the win yesterday but I was delighted with the performance. It obviously wasn't as free-flowing and sparkling a we can be but I thought we were terrific. We've got a goalkeeper who can stop shots again, the defence is getting tighter, the front group scare the shit out of anyone...literally anyone...they come up against. We've got injured players returning and a favourable run-in. This being Liverpool and with our style of play we will always drop points and we'll always chuck in a shocking result along the way. All of that said, I'm as optimistic about this title challenge as I was at this stage in 2013/14. Game on.

I think our chance of winning the league is pretty much over.
That 7 point gap isn't big and it could turn into 4 by the end of the month but I just don't see us catching up to them considering their remaining fixtures. Their toughest away games are against us Man U, Everton and Stoke. I don't see Arsenal and Man C getting anything at Stamford Bridge.

If the Costa situation doesnt change then they might struggle to tip those tight games in their favor.

I don't think we'll win the league, but we'll be in the chase, and I'm quite happy with that.

I think they'll probably sort the Costa situation out, with a view to him getting his move in summer. But hopefully not, and it would be great if it derailed their season.

Even if it doesn't, he's going to surely have a dip in form at some point and the goals will be bit less frequent. SURELY.

Exactly so, we have been and are, without our best players in all areas if of the outfield, and with Coutinho out Firmino is impotent too - Like you Brendan I thought he was pretty bang-average yesterday too, despite what the purists think.
I think we will see an upturn in form but are going to miss Mane and we should have had a plan B for that but should kick on when he's back - Surely at least one of Spurs and Arse have to blow up

We haven't scored a goal in Open Play in over 300 minutes of Football.. Last goal was Mane against Sunderland..

Over 300mins? I must be missing something here - it's three games that's 270 mins. One of them was the kids one of them was an all round shite 1st leg. The other was United at OT - I don't think it's anything to get overly concerned about yet

We're actually in a great position if you ignore Chelsea and consider the fixtures we've had to play.

It just sucks in the year we challenge for the title, Chelsea have been fantastic too. If they can somehow implode (starting with beating them at Anfield), then the run in from April looks good.

I think it's dangerous to disregard Spurs. Not that you are, I'm just saying it is.

Is it too much to hope for Costa really losing his shit and a massive training ground brawl erupting where he gouges out Hazard's eyes before shivving Kante in the back?

It is, isn't it? I know it is, but like, I was a reeeeeeeeeally good boy last year, and I haven't even had a proper Christmas present yet. Pwease Santa?

Well, the latest articles claim Conte has agreed to sell Costa after the season.
If thats true, you have to wonder what kind of form, commitment and desire Costa will have for the reminder of the season.

I've seen more than few posts hoping that player X or Y suffers a bad injury, or is sent off or suspended

But this is on a whole other level. Wishing that a player actually murders and mutilates his team-mates.

A line has been crossed

Hope it happens

Hmm, didn't think we deserved to win. Our keeper was our best player, we got Alice's upon on a number of occasions. A draw was probably fair but we could easily of lost. Our forward line doesn't scare everyone when Mane and Coutinho are out.

Except we drop the most points in the easy games
