PFA Young Player of the Year nominations: Ross Barkley, Eden Hazard, Aaron Ramsey, Luke Shaw, Raheem Sterling, Daniel Sturridge

I'd love to see Raheem get it, as he's more fitting of the young player criteria for me, but it'll probably be Suarez and Hazard, it should be Suarez and Sturridge, Hazards form has dropped considerably the last month or two, but I think people will refrain from voting for two players at the same club.

I am not sure that Barkley should be in there ahead of Coutinho or Oscar or Henderson.

I think both Coutinho and Oscar have been up and down, so I'm not surprised about them not making the list. No idea about Barkley as I didn't watch too many Everton games, though that 20 minutes of zombie-ishness coming on against Chelsea as a sub is permanently lodged in my head.

Henderson should've been on that shortlist IMO. Ramsey's start was impressive, but he's only played 20 games, with 3 of them coming as subs after his long layoff. Henderson's been a lynchpin in our midfield, outperforming Gerrard in the CM position before Gerrard was subsequently moved into the deeplying midfield role where he's now sparkled after an initial settling period. Henderson wouldn't have won it against Hazard anyway, but I would've loved to see his work recognized.

Henderson was pretty average for the first few months, it was only November or December that he really kicked on.

He wouldn't have come close to winning it anyway.

I don't agree with that averageness pre- Nov / Dec, but let's say I go with that. So was Gerrard then, in my opinion. I think a fair few here were commenting on how Gerrard had lost his step and wasn't able to stop opponents passing him by down the middle. Yet, he's up there in the POTY races. Granted, he's had a stellar last couple of months and been instrumental in our title push, but it seems to me we're seeing a bit of recency bias.

Gerrard has offered a lot more this season, namely goals.

Anyway, we're arguing over the players who aren't going to win it anyway, could be Henderson on the list, but I understand why it isn't. I'm sure he didn't miss out by much. No big deal at the end of the day.

I just like to see our players' work recognized, especially the youngsters. Compare Henderson to Ramsey - Henderson has scored/assisted a total of 4 goals fewer, yet has played more games, and shoulders a huge load of our aggressive defensive work. Even better, compare that to Barkley, who, for all his reported talent, has even contributed fewer in terms of goals (5 goals, nothing else). That's even lower than Januzaj.

Henderson's work deserves recognition (yeah he's not winning it against Hazard / Sturridge) and I'm gutted his work isn't ranked higher than those two. For all we know, Januzaj even ranks ahead of him in the pre-shortlist shortlist.

You probably have a point, but I don't think it's anything to get too worked up over.

Not that i doubt Suarez would get it, short of another biting incident. But wouldn't the liverpool favored votes get split if 3 out of our our players?

They shouldn't. There is only one clear winner this season. Luis Suarez.
With all due respect to Gerrard and Sturridge who've had a brilliant season, I think Suarez is head and shoulders above all the rest. It's a sad joke if he doesn't win it.
