Luckily the pain subsides pretty quickly these days. You can only laugh at his cock-ups the last two seasons. For pure humour it's up there with the best of God.

Name a game where Lucas and Allen have played well together.
From the 30th minute on United had no interest in keeping the ball.
It was hoof to Fellaini and hope for the best.
We didn't need a ball winner just someone who could do something with the ball.
It's just that Stevie's brain went on walkabouts again.

It could have been Lucas for Allen.

some of the aggro against one of our all time greats is verging on malicious mancunian drivel.

he made a mistake. he fessed up.

let's not forget the countless times he's stepped up when needed and stayed with us when he could have buggered off.

That's not how it works. You're talking as if people regret that he ever played for us. You're allowed be pissed off when his self-indulgence possibly cost us a shot at the top 4. It was a complete dick move out of a man who was clearly pissed off that he wasn't allowed waltz back into the team.

Stevie came on like it was a LFC v MAN U game from 1985, crunching tackle followed by a bit of nastiness, putting down a marker as they used to put it. Almost as if he had a pep talk from Souness before running out.

That first tackle when he came on was boss. Got the crowd going and we needed something like that. He's been watching those bellends in the first half not putting a tackle in and thought he would stamp his authority on the game.

Silly stamp though and ultimately cost us the game.

Dunno what else to say

Yeah, I was made up when he throw the first tackle in.

Even getting a yellow would have been worth it.

The stamp was just petulant though. He didn't even try to do that jump over the players foot & accidentally land on it thing that's so popular now.

He let us down & let Rodgers down big time today.

I'm gonna be hated for going against the tide of vitriol in here but it has to be said.

Look, the man was foolish for making that reckless challenge, but we didn't lose the game because of him alone. We lost half the game for that inept 1st half performance when as rightly pointed out, hardly anyone was putting a tackle in. We made the scums believe their own hype that they were world-class. They were pants to be honest. LVG was right when he said he used our own game to counter us. They pressed and pressed us for the first 45 mins. Why didn't we press them ? Why did we allow them to press us so easily ? Where were the crunching tackles ? Why did we give them so much space to pass around us ? I bet LVG must be laughing his arse off seeing his own shit team attempting to play tiki-taka.

I dunno if Stevie was really frustrated but the man has apologized despite knowing he will have to bear the brunt of both sides of the Mersey for the following few weeks. It's an apology from a truly broken and disappointed man who has played his heart out for this club since he was like what ? 9 years of age ? He isn't getting the fairytale farewell that he probably dreamed of since he was bloody 9 !! Of course he was frustrated...i know I would if i was in his position. One thing you can never accuse someone like that is their lack of love for the club and fans.

I don't think he made that apology to deflect the blame and flak he knows will come his way for a good long time. If Stevie was that sort of coward, he would have left the club a long time ago (cough Suarez Torres cough). Like a naive passionate fan, he actually took the lyrics of YNWA literally and have braved all sorts of storm during his faithful service to the club. Many gave up, he didn't because I'd like to think he actually thought he would never walk alone. Where is the 12th man support that we are so renowned for ? We blame today's modern game for its loss of passion and over-commercialism but how is this treatment of arguably one of the best players of our club of all time, if not the best, set the right example for the next generation of supporters aye ?

The man said his sorry. What more do you all want ? If Matt Le Tessier cocked his last few games up, would the fans turn on him ? John Terry - there's your last remaining one-man-club guy for you. Ever heard him apologize publicly when he made mistakes ? Or the time he shagged his mate's wife ?

In the heat of the moment, anyone could have made the same mistake as Stevie. He is gonna have to live regretting he did that and knowing he's probably cost us twice in a row now. I dunno about you all, but for a man so hard on himself like Stevie, that is a punishment severe enough. But come on - don't crucify him for it. Zidane cost his team when he succumbed to the taunts of Materazzi but he's gonna have to live with that for the rest of his life. Is he still a legend of the game ? Yes.

We laugh at Chelsea's fans for being nasty pieces of work. But we diss our own captain, our own captain marvel, our own legend. Even when he has apologized, we call him arrogant. Hey, before we all stone him, let us take a good look at ourselves and put ourselves in his shoes okay.

We're so quick and eager to criticise but so reluctant to support and forgive. Great supporters we really are.

Can't be arsed reading that. I'm in the pub.

I'm still off the booze... I've still got that gin you got me... That was my first one of these matches I've seen without wearing a 40 booze unit hijab since I was about 14.

This entire fucking forum is a chore, RedNinja had a post in the other thread that was 3 lines. I got half way through the first line and couldn't do anymore, this is torture.

Meet me halfway and I'll share that bottle with you. Getting twatted

In and out of the team, the last few weeks have spoken volumes about the player he's become and why his move is the right one for all concerned...which is essentially what I, Fabio and Macca said in the thread that followed the news of his departure.

With some very obvious, notable exceptions...can we really call him a big game player? At least five of his dismissals have come in big games, there was the own goal in the league cup final, the slip and now this. Things happen to Gerrard in big games...some outstandingly good, some outstandingly bad.

Can someone Binnify that please.
There you go.

Champions league final, cl semi/quarter finals, fa cup? Fuck me.

I can see where Macca's coming from, but I can't bring myself to hate him for it.

You can almost see it in Gerrard's eyes that he's given up. That slip is gonna haunt him forever, we know and he knows it. He looks like he's carrying it in every game too. As if one unfortunate moment in his career will define him. It probably will too.

No doubt he feels it's all unfair, like the game owed him more, like his heroics for us for a decade merited him earning a break. All of that wasn't the reason for snapping at Herrera like, but watching him trudge off the ground was devastatingly sad.

I couldn't help but feel for him.

Yeah, I definitely feel for him. He's been carrying us for his entire career. And just when we look like we are actually starting to build a fucking decent team, it all goes tits up for him. Not condoning what he did today, but he clearly set out to stamp (excuse the pun) his authority on the game in a "I'm gonna twat these cunts" kinda way. Unfortunately it just backfired for him, and what should be a proud time in his career has just turned to black, as Pearl Jam would say. Sure he'll have his testimonial, and Liverpool fans will always remember him for his moments of brilliance, but the rest of the footballing world won't.

I'm sure lots of them will.

Sorry, I meant to say "a lot of the footballing world". It's true that many genuine fans of other teams (Including Chelsea and United) will hail him as one of the all-time greats. I just don't think he's helped his cause the past 2 seasons.
