Allison 6 - Didn't have much to do really other than pick the ball out the back of the net. Quicker with his distribution and no fucking around.

TAA 6.5 - Steady, provided good support down the right but too often was caught ball watching. Was a bit lucky that Spurs weren't particularly effective down his side.

Roberson 7 - industrious as ever, up and down the wing and a perfectly weighted pass that lead to Firmino's goal. Always involved and pretty solid.

VVD 7.5 - Won everything, a threat in the opposition box too (he was a handful for Gini's goal), made one absolutely superb intervention to bail out Gomez.

Gomez 6.5 - Caught under the ball a couple of times ala last season's form, but other than that pretty good. Great distribution and made a vital block to deny Rose.

Gini 8 - Everywhere, scored his first away goal and was generally a dream to watch, spinning on a sixpence to turn defense into attack. Brilliant so far this season.

Milner 8 - Ditto Gini really, all over the place, unlucky to not have another assist with his cross early in the first half. Thunderous tackles all over the pitch and always wanting the ball.

Keita 6 - Kept the ball recycled quickly and always supporting in behind the front three. It hasn't quite come together for him yet, he's shown glimpses of quality and badly needs a goal. Terrible miss late on that should really have wrapped up the points before the late scare.

Salah 6 - Trying to hard, out of sorts, throwing his arms everywhere when not getting the pass. Don't know if he needs a break or just perseverance. The front three in general haven't really clicked yet, which on this form is bad news for everyone else, because it's coming and someone will get a pasting.

Mane 7 - hit and miss with his decision making but always an outlet and generally the more threatening of the front three. Seems to be pissing Salah off a bit with his inconsistencies.

Firmino 7 - All over the pitch, breaking up play, winning possession back, and tirelessly opening up space for his strike partners. Was at left back at one point covering Robbo, which he didn't do successfully, but it shows his commitment to the team ethic. Got a goal and a poke in the eye for his troubles.

SUBS

Sturridge 5 - Terrible at closing down, shirked responsibility on the goal too as he turned away from Lamella with a typically half arsed block. Really won't have endeared himself to Klopp with his complete lack of industry, which is quite obviously crucial in this team.

Henderson 6 - Did ok, helped shore things up a bit but should have done better for the Lamella chance that went wide. In this team's current form and his own lack of risk on the ball, is hardly a necessity but a useful option.

That London-biased Spurs-mad twat Martin Lipton was on the radio this morning, droning on about how teams would now focus on 'exploiting their right sided weakness'. What the feck is that when it's at home? When did we acquire that?

He basically means he thinks Trent and gomez are gash

It's not a weakness that's actually there however

They can say all that ... but everyone knows that had the ref seen that last minute incident they would have drawn that game. Lesson to be learnt is that dominance of a game must be reflected in the scoreline.
Well done for missing the point ;)

They had a bit of an off game in terms of a few weak moments though, but it happens to any team. Largely they've been excellent this season.

The irony with Lipton is that Gomez made an excellent block to deny Rose, which led to the corner. And then they scored from our left. So yeah, he's talking through his hoop.

That pass by Mane to Keita on the counter almost felt like Mane refused to give it to Salah who was in a better position.

Some unhealthy competition between the two?
Nah. I think you and Rurik are reading far too much into it. I do think though that both Mane and Salah are tending to hold on to the ball a little too long for whatever reason (lack of mental acuity perhaps). We do best with passing it bam-bam-bam, player runs clear, goal.

Rurik : There's no way defenders 'picked up' on anything, they didn't have time for that they just tried to cover as best they could.

I was thinking about this too, but I think it was more him trying to help his new mate by giving him his first goal at the club (Keita) as opposed to ignoring Salah. Either way not on when you're only two up.
As I just mentioned above. I don't think it was that at all. Keita was the one who was free - as in totally unmarked - Mane just delayed his pass far far too long until the target for Keita was actually shrinking with every stride.

Yeah great victory for victories sake. But I am not buying into that shit about us as title contenders just yet. I still look at the other three (United, City, and Chelsea) with fear - simply because they look more assured than we do, more stronger etc. I mean ask yourselves - since the season began we are all pretty much in agreement that in overall consistency, and impact - it has been Milner who can be considered our best performer. Lovren's injury has been a blessing because it has allowed Gomez to play at at the back with VVD.

Gomez, Robertson, VVD, Milner, and Gini - these boys have been the rock and foundation of us winning our games despite the rest of the team playing what I consider average at best. The decision making of Mane, and Salah needs to be sorted ASAP, and nearly every week we keep talking about an incident involving TAA - if he was not a pure home grown - I think most of you on here would be giving him the Alberto treatment. I saw a game today where Spurs looked like a bunch of dozy cunts and Kane looks utterly fucked. My worry is that thus far we have not come up against the really big name players of the PL - and we really need to sort our shit out because watching the front play of the likes of City, and Chelsea - it really will be a massive test for our lot.

United? Seriously?

Have to admit that I'm not really feeling this win like I usually would and it's all because of that missed penalty call.
To be blatantly honest, I feel like we robbed them or more specifically, that the ref robbed them.
Can't really digest it somehow. The last thing I want, is us winding up in a situation where one of our players gets brought down in the box during dying minutes and some ref decides to play the karma card.

One positive is that we're winning games like a Fergie team used to and that usually means titles.

Maybe you hadn't been watching eh...

We robbed them?? Nah...

IF they had got the pen and scored it, it was us who would have been robbed. To suggest that was a real narrow victory doesn't really look at the whole picture... we cut them open regularly and with a little bit more sharpness would have given them a smashing.

Whilst some frustratingly poor shots and poor decisions - I am liking the way that Keita is often right up there in attack when we counter, adding another body for the opposition to think about. Continue like this and things will click, hopefully against Chelsea later this month.

Yep, he seems to be in the right places making the right moves, he just hasn't found his mojo fully yet. I really expect come November he will, and he'll really start making a difference in games.

I'm not suggesting that it was a narrow victory, I'm saying that we were lucky to get out of there with a win considering that they should have had a penalty.
Yes, the ref robbed them of a potential game tying penalty and despite us being the better team, they deserved that pen and a chance to get a point.

Five games played; five wins; happy days; let's do some RAAAAAAATINGS!

It's fucking lovely winning, and especially sweet when you beat one of your "Big 6" rivals away from home. It was infuriating to watch at times, as we wasted several good chances to win really comfortably, but it was a much deserved victory - despite still not really playing at our best - against a strangely disjointed and lethargic Spurs team, who seemed incapable of passing the ball to their own players for much of the first 20 minutes.

But fuck Spurs. We had three outstanding MOTM candidates in Virgil, Milner and Firmino, which says it all really.

Alisson (7) Distribution was more agricultural and Row Z than usual, unsurprisingly. Wasn't really busy, and handled what little they had comfortably. Couldn't really be blamed for their late goal.

TAA (7) Solid as teak defensively, and was clearly delighted with the space he had to run into and attack Spurs, as their weird diamond-shaped midfield left him plenty of opportunities, which he didn't really exploit as well as he might have in all honesty, as some of his final balls and passes were lacking. But I'm quibbling.

Gomez (7) Had a putrid couple of minutes early in the first half, as Moura turned him inside out, but soon got his composure back and then decided to dissuade Moura from any more such attempts by matching him for pace and then chopping him in half with a beautiful tackle. Looks a player at CB and I love his pace and confidence.

Virgil (8) Strode around Wembley like the Persian God-King Xerxes, overseeing the destruction of a troublesome London hamlet led by a plucky, lantern-jawed simpleton who came to battle with a rusty farming tool and was vanquished without mercy. Unruffled, untouchable, all-powerful.

Robertson (7) Another tediously effective display from the superb Scot. So sharp in his passing and movement, allowed very little rto get past him, and stung Spurs again and again with his running, crossing and skills. Great pass to mane for the second goal too.

Wijnaldum (8) Extra point for goal. Oh yes. Composed and effective, went about his job without fuss, and rarely lost possession. AND SCORED AN AWAY GOAL!

Keita (6) Looked a bit slow in mind and body as he gets used to his new team-mates and surroundings, but grew into the game, and made some good interceptions. Possibly should have done better with his chance, but he's getting into dangerous positions and will surely continue to improve.

Milner (8) If Milner was black, cost £50m and called Naby Keita, then we would be hailing him as the best midfield signing since Xabi Alonso. So far this season he has been fucking immense. He crashed into tackles, covered defensively, used the ball well and always made himself available for the pass. He never stopped moving all game, and got through a gigantic amount of great work. What a player.

Mane (7) Electrifying pace and movement, he made one goal and really should have scored at least once himself. Some of his final passes and decisions were making Klopp tear his hair implants out on the touchline, and he needs to turn that terrifying ability and speed into more goals for himself and his team-mates. Started the season as the danger man, and long may it continue.

Salah (6) Still not running and moving at full speed, and looks less sure of himself, even though he did make Vorm save one or two decent efforts. Some signs of the trickery and verve of last season, but we need to see it soon.

Firmino (8) Looked much shaper, quicker and more aggressive, and he pulled Spurs all over the place with his tricks, flicks, passing, running and movement. As ever, as long as he carries on scoring, I can't complain, but his overall game was so impressive regardless of the goal.

Yeah im a bit like that about Salah too.

I enjoyed this. VVD is immense. Not to steal an old Downing gag but Big Virg is even better than I expected. I presumed he was good but he's incredible.

Yep, he seems to be in the right places making the right moves, he just hasn't found his mojo fully yet. I really expect come November he will, and he'll really start making a difference in games.
I think he's making a difference already. We keep possession better and he lays off the ball beautifully, right weight right place (usually going forward) and he links wonderfully with Mane and Robbo. He's ace on the ball. Lots more to come but he's getting there.

Did anyone notice how shit scared Vertonghen was to get tight to Salah and Mane? He actually allowed them to have the ball and proceeded to back off. He didn't want to compete for the first ball at all. The fear factor is still there.

I think people need to relax a bit with Salah. People calling for him to be dropped for Shaqiri (who I like btw) who had a decent pre season is a bit premature.
Salah terrorised defenses last season and was one of the top 3 players in Europe last season. He's earned our trust in his short time here and patience should be shown.
So far this season in 5 games he's scored 2 goals, assisted 2 goals, won a penalty and had a player sent. I will admit he's looked a bit loose and greedy at times this season but he looked like the Salah of last season as he slalomed through the Spurs defense in the last 20 mins on Saturday. I'm hoping it clicks again Tuesday or next Saturday and he's back scoring for fun.

On a side note, I've always found Mane to be even greedier than Salah. Both seem to crave scoring goals which can be a good thing. Klopp just need to ensure the team is prioritized ahead of individual stats.

Everyone should watch that video just above again. He made the speedster Moura look like he was standing still. Incredible speed, he looked like a sprinter getting out of the blocks. (I've just gone and watched it another 20 times it's that good).

Haha awesome description.

Robertson (7) Another tediously effective display from the superb Scot. So sharp in his passing and movement, allowed very little rto get past him, and stung Spurs again and again with his running, crossing and skills. Great pass to mane for the second goal too.
I'm surprised no one else has mentioned how he was in the RB slot when Lamela scored, Studge isn't a LB and Lamela wouldn't have scored if Robbo was where he was supposed to be. Otherwise yet another great game.

Keita (6) Looked a bit slow in mind and body as he gets used to his new team-mates and surroundings, but grew into the game, and made some good interceptions. Possibly should have done better with his chance, but he's getting into dangerous positions and will surely continue to improve. ...............
Also as I mentioned above, we keep possession better and he lays off the ball beautifully, right weight right place (usually forward) and he links wonderfully with Mane and Robbo to initiate lovely attacking triangles. He's ace on the ball.

IT’S glorious winning at Wembley, isn’t it?
We used to do it all the while y’know. Let’s do it all the while again, aye?
Alisson: 8
Back to making his shit look easy, isn’t he? Loved it when that 1945 fella upfront for them tried to lob him with a header and he just caught it and told him to shut his mouth.
Trent: 8
He’s probably the best centre mid in the world and we play him right back for a laugh.
Virgil: 9
Lashed the afterburners on to bail Joe Gomez out there second half. Loved his dialogue with him after it.
“Lad”
“I know, lad”

Marked that blue whale-mouthed fucker right out of it there, didn’t he? Imagine the shite he collects in his throat. He needs a filter fitting, him. Probably gets half his calories off spiders and flies, and that.

Joe Gomez: 8
Had an Igor whacky 10 minutes second half when he went shite for a bit, but then clobbered their best player. Virgil loves him, I reckon.
Andy Robbo: 9
Captain. My captain. He’s boss, isn’t he? Juicing on Irn Bru, him.
Gini: 8
Thought he struggled first half but bosses it second half. Loved it when he twatted it into their Kryton lad who plays centre mid. No fucking way that hurt him, mate. Probably just endangered his oil supply or something. He’s like Pinocchio him, lad. I’m a real boy. Look, it hurts. No you’re not, now get up.

Milner: 8
Like all the midfield, thought he struggled first half weirdly but was glorious second half. Twatted it against the robot to prove a point, had a load of lovely chats with the ref and managed us through the game.
Naby: 7
Thought he was alright. Looks like he’s just figuring us out. Him and Mane are going to wound people back end of the season down that left, y’know.
Mo: 8
Not at his best but could have scored four. Fancied a goal late on, reckon he’s getting a bollocking for that as we speak.

Sadio: 8
Looked like he had forgot how to run for a bit there and still set up the second. Like he’d been spinning a brush over his head. His legs were a show. Loved it when he got a cob on with Lamela.
Firmino: 9
Thought he was our best attacker, you know. Till that slow crab gouged his eye out. Hope he hasn’t been Momo’d.
SUBS
Henderson: 8

Come on and looked bigger and harder than everyone else.
Sturridge: 7
Free kick winner these days. Like Didi Hamann upfront .
Blue-Whale Grid:
Two celebration goal.
Harry Winks:
The last cockney.
BTW - IF you like Ben Johnson's style (I know some don't), and want to see him rant in the flesh, he is the guy in the green shirt in this. His descriptions of Kane (from 3:55), Momo (10:40) and Dier (18:55) are the highlights

Did you know? Roberto Firmino has been directly involved in 61 Premier League goals for Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp (38 goals, 23 assists), 16 more than any other player.

Bobby is definitely my favorite player.
