So what's the summary. I didn't see the game but it sounds like "Promising signs, great stats and should win these games, but what can you expect without a striker kind of thing"?

I've been very impressed with Lucas of late and by the sounds of it he had another good 45 mins today.

Promising stuff in his bid to outlast manager no 5

Yeh I thought we would twat them second half with Benteke and firmino coming on. Still very early days and was too early to assess anything.
We're without Studge, Benteke, firmino, Henderson, Gomez, ings, flanno etc. All good players who will make a serious difference once fit and adapted to Klopps way.
As for fans leaving early. How early are we talking? If it's a minute to miss the rush, fair enough, of its ten mins or so, have a word people, have a word.
It was in the last 2 minutes - ridiculous for the commentators to even comment on it.

Pass accuracy: 86%-62% Chances created: 12-4 Shots: 29-5 Crosses: 42-6
So, we created 12 chances & had 29 shots. Does that mean at least 17 of those shots were from positions where there was zero chance of ever scoring?

I was saying it all game, the only reason we didnt score is because we're completely toothless with Origi upfront, the difference when Benteke came on with obvious, if he wasn't rusty from his time out we'd have easily won.

Lol the beeb spoke about our he's ranking yesterday .

54th in Europe . sandwiched in between APOEL and some other FC Sion or someone else .

He looks like he should be good

Movement? Excellent.
Work Ethic? Excellent
Very solid passer
Decent finisher

The problem? He is weak on the ball, he holds onto it too long and he'll often miss easy passes (credit to him for that pass to Benteke, as I thought he was going to pass that one up too). We're carrying two attacking midfielders (Coutinho and Lallana) who aren't scoring, or creating enough opportunities for both to be on the pitch every game. One needs to be dropped.

As soon as we can get rid of Origi starting games, the better, he is nowhere near being ready to play for us, maybe not even as a sub yet. He may end up being great one day, but not anytime soon. Obviously Klopp's hands were tied with the others being out.
We looked pretty threatening once Benteke and Firmino came on, and I've no doubt we'd have won comfortably if they'd have been in a position to start.
I'm not sure I like this sloppy shooting routine where anyone (i.e lucas) can have a shot from anywhere, I don't know if that's the system and the orders they've been given, or the players doing it themselves.
The defence looks pretty solid I think, some players are already starting to flourish in the new system.

We had a better chance of winning it when they had eleven men. As soon as they went to all our defence we were always going to struggle to break then down. Our attacking play was poor and they deserved their point.

Plus points:

Defence looks good, Moreno is improving a lot. Sakho looks great and things seem to be getting better. They don't seem to be quite so exposed. Silly mistake for the goal, mind you.

Can played well, as did Lallana. Thought Lucas looked assured when he came on but he was given loads of space because Rubin just sat back.

Minus Points:

Origi needs six months in the reserves.
We lack runners to stretch defences. People want the ball to feet all the time. Milner I found particularly disappointing last night. He didn't have an awful game but he looked like a pale imitation of Henderson. Coutinho was also poor. For all the money we've spent on attacking midfielders we've yet to buy one who can weigh in with goals on a regular basis, unless Firmino is that man.
Our crossing is shite.

Agree with almost all of that but not about Milner. He was unspectacular, yes, but I thought he did a good job keeping us moving forward when our heads could have dropped.

I dunno, I thought his passing was below par, he wasn't making decent runs and he wasn't making any through-balls either. I wasn't sure whether he was supposed to be running beyond Lallana/Coutinho in support of Origi. Can seemed to be stretching their defence on his side but Milner wasn't really doing the same. There wasn't any real threat from him.

I think it once again showed that Skrtel isnt a long term solution in defence.
He doesnt like that high line and dropped off yesterday when they scored the goal.

Shame Gomez got injured cause I think Klopp would have started with him

Mig isn't good enough for us to be able to play a high defensive line. Until we get a keeper that can act as a sweeper we will struggle to play the Klopp way, a high defensive line and a very compact team high up the pitch that allows us to win the ball early.

Early signs are that Courtinho is finding it diffucult in JK system. Llanna is loving it.

Can see us definitely see us signing a dm in Jan.

Lucas has been terrific but in the JK system the dm gets into a lot off attacking positions.

Well seeing as klopp resorted to putting lucas on last night it's hard to imagine him looking at the team & not thinking we need a quality dm.

I said before Rodgers left that a decent manager could get this team firing with simply an extremely good defensive midfielder because of the benefit that gives both the attacking side & confidence it breeds in defence, & I think that's what will happen come January.

Sakho was commanding again at the back winning all his duels. Not quite sure about his positioning for the goal though. Same goes for Clyne. I hate seeing an attacker taking the ball down in the box but it was an excellent touch and finish.

Lallana worked his socks off again and was very positive. I love how he finds space by allowing the ball to do the work to come across his body. His first touch isn't to control the damn thing, it's to springboard his next phase of play. Something Joe Allen used to be able to do but he just seems so stale these days.

Benteke and Firmino were an added improvement up top. Benteke should have scored. I'll chalk it down to him dusting off the cobwebs and I'll expect a goal on Sunday.

Coutinho was very frustrating again. Just waiting for it all to click with him again.

I did fucking tell you all this about coutinho in the summer to much naysaying the guy is a 5/10 over the course of a season

Coutinho needs needs quality players making quality runs infront of him, to get the best out him. That isn't some 12yr old belgian lad. Coutinho will be back to normal when our attackers are match fit.
