Post Scum Thoughts

It seems to be the standard question when people make these sort of points. We can only point to what's missing in the team. Like many of us would have said last season, we need a dominant defender - we picked up Matip on a free, not someone many of us would have called. There are players out there and we should have a world class scouting system. I like the look of the last at Torino, and Modi has recommended a few players of similar ilk - hard-working and goalscoring attackers.

How is that Ousmane Dembele getting on at Dortmund?

He seemed very highly rated.

That said, if you look at lists of the most highly rated strikers from previous years, there's more than a few that got a big move but didn't exactly set the world on fire, or fell off the radar.

Lacazette has been linked with big moves to every top club every year for the last three or four, but he's still at Lyon. Is he still ace?

The irony in Mark posting that bollix too.
He followed Modo around the boards for years derailing threads left right and centre.
Nothing like a bit of hypocrisy when it suits.

I argued with Modo about football, I didn't go around threads posting one liners about him everyday. You've done the same yourself too.

In fairness to me and Modo, we both knocked it on the head and are fairly respectful to eachother these days, give or take the odd disagreement.

No idea what you're so angry about, Mark, but there is one poster on here who regularly engages in puerile crap with many different posters. Maybe direct your ire in his direction.

Top tip: He's been banned from every other Liverpool site he's posted on for precisely this reason.

What am I angry about? I'm unsure what spell Brenners has you lot under, but he has you blinded by it.

No one is blinded by any spell. Some posters seem to be getting wound up continuously about a fairly valid point about the team, and when they can't argue or debate back, they resort to one line posts about the poster. Like I said, I'd prefer a bit of discussion.

He's done ok, (Dembele), he's weighed in with a few goals and several assists in the league and in Europe, he plays more in attacking midfield/wide left though. I've no idea about Lacazette these days, a few of the other lads on here might know.

Are you suggesting I have resorted to one line posts about Brenners? If so, I suggest you re-read the thread (I have merely responded to a cheap shot in kind). If not, carry on as you were.

But, this is yet another thread which has ended up being about Brenners, so no more on that topic from me.

And I am not wound up about people's views of Firmino at all (again if that is even aimed at me). Not one post in this thread would even suggest I am. I like Firmino. I like what he adds to the team. I'm up for keeping him and not replacing him. If he scores more, then great. If not, well, we're scoring enough anyway, and he contributes wholly to that..

Dembele has 12 assists and 5 goals in 24 games for Dortmund this season. He's definitely one that got away.

Lacazzette has 15 goals in 15 games this season and is still very good. Can see him leaving after this season but Aulas is extremely tough to negotiate with.

What is Lacazette's all round game like? Is he more than just a goal scorer? If not I cannot see Klopp going for him.

Lacazette was up for sale last summer but no big club wanted him. Apparently his main flaw is that he can't play up front by himself. He's 25 now so if it doesn't happen this summer it never will.

.

Quite, because this is going around in circles. I wasn't aiming the point at you, but I posted in response to your reply to My Blood Bleeds Red. I was pointing out that at least Brendan has generated debate, the poster you replied to has posted for months in threads attacking Brendan with one liners. Like I say, which is more detrimental to the forum?

I think Lyon play a 4-3-3, so I think he can do that but if he would be effective in that role in the PL is another question.
Aulas wanted a lot of money for him and I think Lacazette maybe wanted to stay for one more season in the end because they moved into a new stadium and played in the CL.

I think he'll move on this summer but not sure if he's good enough for a top team in Europe.

Ah, there's only a few mewling spastics like him, and Leo and the usual graveyard shift, mumbling angrily amongst themselves

There's probably no more than 5 or 6 of them.
I might be a mewling spastic or whatever but at least I'm not the head of strategy of a rag where sales are plummeting by the day.
Good work old chap.

Great thread.

It IS a great thread, underneath all of the tedious bullshit and sniping, there have been some great contributions that have raised some decent debates. And then there are people posting pointless jibes at other posters, or the thread, or the state of the forum.

I swear some people want this place to be as happy-clappy as RAWK.

I agree. There's been fun, intellectual debate, some great, thought-provoking posts and at the end almost a consensus.

I don't mind being a lightning rod for the shithouse crybabies; if they're following me around it allows other posters to talk more freely and improves the overall quality of exchange.

Only 5 or 6 mewling spastics Brendan, a small price to pay for your legion of fans.

It is interesting to see the Pre Match interview with Klopp. He clearly states that United might have been on a good run, but they have yet to meet a team defending like us. Hence he indicates already there that we are going to give them zero chance to play any game like they have done lately, where defenders and Carrick has settled in and looked a comfortable unit. This was done by utlizing Firmino as the Central forward (he has started out left previous games only to move central during the game) and run the pace and rythm of Our pressing game from there. It was a huge success, as we looked comfortable first half (a few incidents, one which was self inflicted apart) and forced United to change their game for second half.

It does say a lot when Jose chose Fellaini over Rashford. Rashford had a very very good impact as a sub against West Ham, and now he could face young Trent AA. The United fans in my pub laughed at the name before the game started. and obviously found Our weak spot straight Ahead. But if Trent was a potential weak spot, Our defence approach that started with Firmino totally balanced that out, and forced Jose to lauch rockets instead of playing football.

Of course here we discuss if Firmino scores enough goals, but discussing the Man U game he was vital to our game on the day. Not becasue of his goal threath or lack of, but because he dictated our pressing game and total gameplan.

.....which should have been a freekick for us after their corner, but actually 5 seconds later it resulted in a freekick for them on the edge of the box.

Seriously Pat, I really do wonder about you sometimes.
