I owe you all an apology. I watched bags of Sociedad last season but never found the time to write them up for you.
I promise i will be far less tardy this year. Unfortunately the fantastic Illarramendi has gone but there are still some gems in the team Prieto, Martinez, Vela, Agiretxe and most of all the fantastic Griezmann who is a pure rolls royce of a player and I would love at Anfield.
Anyway, you can catch them tonight on Sky Sports 2 and again on Saturday night on Sky sports 4.
I missed the weekend game so I dont know how much they missed illarramendi, but he is a fantastic player and any team would miss him.
They started last season really poorly and I thought I had picked a dud to watch (they lost like 8 of thier first 10 games) but they recovered well and only lost twice all season after that, they even beat Barcelona and were the better team in the game. They finished the season in 4th and have the expectation of the champions league to attend to this year.
Hopefully they can see of Lyon and get into the competition proper, I would really like to see them do well.....although I would rather we sign Griezmann before the rest of Europe becomes aware of him.

So I watched Sociedad tonight in the Champions league away to Lyon.
They didnt disappoint. They looked in the main part rock solid at the back with just a couple of hairy moments from corners. Inigo Martinez was as good as the reputation he is forging for himself, Prieto did a great job shielding the back 4 and the keeper Bravo was excellent as per.
Up front they had Agiretxe out injured so Vela played alongside the new boy Seferovic (signed for a couple of million Euro). Vela was busy and worked throughout to put Lyon under pressure and Seferovic himself caused mayhem from time to time. He scored the second goal and what a strike it was:

And onto the star of the show and the best player in the team. Greizmann is one of my favourite players right now and he didnt disappoint. A few good runs at the start and tireless working back to cover for the left back and then this:

I doubt there will be a better goal in Europe this season, This player is a wonderful talent and on the cusp of being one of the names in Europe.
The best compliment I can pay Sociedad tonight is that they didnt miss Illeremendi at all. They were as good as they were last season.

2 Games so far
2 WIns.

Big things?
