Rickie Lambert

I don't remember if we had a second striker on when he scored against Ludo.

Either way Balotelli Borini is the way to go. But I wouldn't be upset if Lambert started for Borini either.

Sunderland played Borini at LM for large parts of last season by the way.

For the part in bold - yes, Borini came on as a sub and shortly after, put in a good header in the box.

By the way, contrary to the other thread title, I don't think we played with two up yesterday even with Borini on the pitch with Lambert / Balotelli. It looked to me like 4-2-3-1 with Markovic/Lallana on one flank and Borini on the other, and Coutinho in the centre directing, and Lambert / Balotelli further up. Borini did, however, spend a fair bit of time cutting inwards as Manquillo provided a lot of the width down the right (and also made his own threatening inside runs too).

sentimental signing. I hope he ends up scoring more than Eric Meijer. I would rather his playing time be given to one of the young lads, like Wilson or Sinclair.

Southampton sell lambert and buy Pelle simples..

We need to but there scouts god damn it.

I guess a big issue is that he came in as a plan B, we then went and spent £17m on another plan B.

I actually think he has played well in a couple of his sub appearances.

Against QPR the arrival of him and Coutinho changed the game. He was holding up the ball well, bringing others into the game, making good touches in the box. He makes stuff happen and was doing the same when it was Studge up front. We should be starting him but at the moment our form players are all midfielders and it makes it hard to drop some of them with 2 strikers not scoring.

You also don't really need amazing scouts to see that Tadic and Pelle were great budget options.

Yeah. It's annoying that we don't spot such talents, and for relatively little £. Brilliant business by the Saints.

I wish people would stop saying it was a sentimental signing. There was nothing 'sentimental' about about it. Why on earth would BR or the committee be sentimental ?!

I think there was some sentiment - though mostly on Rickie's side.

Also, Pelle has looked fantastic for Saints but I suspect they'd have been distinctly less effective for us.

I thought Pelle would not be that good in the Premiership myself. He is 29 and has scored loads the last 2 seasons at Feyenoord but was a bit toss everywhere he was at before that.

We should have bought Tadic a couple of seasons ago.

I haven't been paying much attention to Wijnaldum lately, how is he doing?

What some seem to have ignored about Pelle is that he played for Koeman for 2 seasons prior to coming over. Picking him up had nothing to do with their scouting and everything to do with Koeman liking what he could do for him (see: Rodgers and Allen / Sigurdsson). It also works in Pelle's favour in that he's familiar with the manager, his methods and demands. A good pickup so far but it wasn't some scouting coup in this case.

I never see that much of PSV. He seems to be doing alright but Memphis Depay is on fire. Scoring pretty much every game and hitting the bar from well in his own half last week. It would have been an outrageous Suarez-like goal.

Is Depay really any good? I saw him only at the World Cup, and while the media seemed to hype him, I couldn't shake away the idea in my head that this looked like another Babel / Elia case. Is he really a promising player, or just overrated by the media because he was touched by Lord Van Gaal?

Pelle is this season's that dude from Swansea who was ace for five minutes who I've forgotten the name of
