RIP. A club legend.- Nearly 50 years service as a player and a coach winning 44 trophies with the club.

Shit news to wake up to.
RIP to a proper club legend.

For the European Cup home leg in 1965 against Inter Milan, Ronnie Moran, who was at the end of his playing career, was brought in at left-back to replace Gerry Byrne, who had broken his collarbone in the FA Cup Final. Ronnie was up against Jair, lightning fast and tricky Brazilian winger.

From the kick-off, Jair pissed past Ronnie as if he wasn't there and our hearts sank. But that was the only time it happened. As the game progressed, Jair ended up in Ronnie's pocket, through Ronnie's experience and reading of the game.

At University I was friends with Brian Hall, who was then playing for Liverpool Reserves as an amateur. At that time Ronnie was player/coach for the reserves. In a training game, Brian kept pushing the ball in front of Ronnie for him to run on to. Eventually Ronnie came over to Brian.

"Listen lad," he said. "In the reserves, you play the ball TO the man, not in front of him." :)

The ultimate servant to the club. He spent his entire playing career with us, captained the club, joined the backroom staff and stayed for basically the rest of his life. I remember a few years ago watching one of those behind the scenes type videos and there was Ronnie Moran still training at Melwood.

He could even have been manager at one time too. When Dalglish quit he was appointed as caretaker manager and said he didn't want the job full time. Apparently he changed his mind later on and said that he did indeed want the job full time but by then we had appointed Souness so the chance was gone.

Great man, and a Liverpool manager for a few games after Kenny's departure. I remember singing "Ronnie Moran's Red & White Army" at Goodison in the FA Cup replay

RIP

Bollocks. So long you fucking legend. Without Ronnie we would never have become the force we did. Today's dickhead players could do with a man of his calibre to kick them up the arse. We might win something.
What a man.

63 replies for a thread about Wenger. Watch this one struggle to reach 20.
It's blerts paradise on here.

RIP Ronnie, a proper bootroom legend. For those getting into football in the late 90s and beyond, I doubt he'll hold such relevance. He really was part of the original bootroom right to the end.
YNWA - I hope we hold a minutes applause before our game with Everton.

RIP. YNWA.

I'm glad he got his autobiography finished.

Was told a few days back he didn't have long. The word legend can be used in its proper term here. Klopp could do with sitting the squad down and going through his career and service to the club and telling them to all have a think about where they are just now. RIP

A pillar of the club has gone. The job for the rest now is to put new pillars up to honour the legacy of men like Ronnie Moran.

Ronnie Moran RIP.

I dunno about the bit about the 90's fans. I know me & my mates continually had dad's showing us old vhs tapes recorded from match of the day & describing games & stories to us, especially before testimonials & the like.

They always spoke about Ronnie with an awe of reverence, & even if fans hadn't known much about him, just looking at his record at the club is enough to impress upon you the kind of servant he was to the club & the impact he had.

We'll definitely hold the minutes silence before the derby. I'll stick my neck out & say the blues will honour it too, even the most bitter blues have respect for the man, especially as the two clubs were often fierce competitors during Ronnie's playing career.

Oh no! A PROPER Legend! RIP Ronnie. ^^^ Yeah for sure the blues will honour and respect whatever tribute we pay towards the man. Of course they will.

Always remember him standing in those long duvet red n grey coats with King Kenny on the sidelines as a nipper.....

Different times when football men were men.....

Absolute football & Liverpool legend.... you will never ever see the likes of again.
