Rossiter

Well that Grujic is signing he's further down the pecking order. Sorry to see him go, but I understand that he wants to move on.
Rangers though?

I know what you mean but where else is he going to go?

He's going to have to take a big step down either way and I guess at Rangers he's got someone who knows and trusts him.

Frank McPartland is at Rangers in a recruitment role so knows all about Rossitter

Shame, always thought he could develop into a very good player for us.
Hasnt really happened for him so he needs to do something.
Playing for Rangers might be a good move.

The biggest tragedy of this is that we can't use this masterpiece any more

No issue with him leaving but with a buyback clause and monster sell on fee.

When he was about 16 he looked so promising. He was actually about the same height Gerrard was at the same age, which - along with his dynamism - probably prompted some comparisons from those who'd seen Steven in the early days. But whereas Gerrard went on to suddenly grow really quickly, Rossiter didn't, and instead of becoming more expansive his game became more limited and tactically-constrained. He's a smart lad, and technically very sound, so he's going to have a good career, but it's been very frustrating to see him fail to really push on like so many people expected. I'm sure there was something else behind the way his future here evaporated so quickly this season - maybe the injury was worse than was claimed, maybe his agent distracted him, I don't know, no one seems to know what's gone on. I'm sure Klopp would have wanted to give him more time if all had been hunky dory.

Isn't he out of contract? If so, we'll get £250,000 compensation and there'll be no buy back clauses or sell-on fees.

You don't go to Scotland to develop further.
But I honestly don't care, never really rated him.

lol? he's just another jay spearing.

He was alot more promising than Spearing, especially at an early age, Spearing was always a workhorse who had reasonable technical ability but could cover ground and put himself about. Rossiter was much more technically gifted, better long range passing and he grew into the anchor midfield role. The comparison is lazy at best, both midfielders and both moved on to a lesser club, but that's about it.

And what's your point? I found the reaction to Stewart's first couple of games wildly OTT, because he's always generally looked no more than the steady eddy sideways passer he's now getting stick from the same people for being. Rossiter was hyped up because he genuinely looked outstanding when he was 15/16, but he didn't progress as far as many expected, and he didn't seem to want to stay. I don't get what or who you're criticising.

Woland is right. I think if Rossiter hadn't had that injury with England he would have stepped up from the academy when we needed midfielders, and would have forced his way into Klopp's plans. He got injured, others stepped up and got noticed, and Rossiter was made to believe, perhaps rightly, that he would have limited opportunities if he stayed at Liverpool. I don't think it will be the last we hear about Rossiter. If he manages to stay fit, I think he will have a fine future.

I didn't mind Stewart getting a contact (on comparatively low wages), because he's one of those players - a tiny minority - who can be relied on to use every single minute to analyse his own weaknesses and work INCREDIBLY hard to improve. Craig Johnston was like that, so is Danny Ings (although he's always been a decent player - he's just kept improving). When most so-so players walk off the pitch at the end of the game you don't really imagine they're that aware of their deficiencies. Stewart will be intensely aware. He'll seek out criticism, he'll listen carefully, he'll alter his own extra training sessions to work on eradicating errors and improving his passing, runs, shooting, positioning, etc etc. He's one of those rare players who simply won't let his chance go without doing all he can to seize it fully. So while I'm sceptical of how much he will improve, I'm happy to see him try.

Exactly, and that's why I instantly liked Stewart.

You can almost see the grit and determination he has by watching him play. Klopp was hugely impressed by him, I think it made him question the whole loan system even more.

I've said it before, but if more of our reserves had the same attitude Stewart has, they would have made it.

When I used to follow the reserves Stewart was played at fullback. I even thought he actually was a full back. Go figure.
