Sadio Mane is unlikely to be fit for Liverpool’s game against Bournemouth on Wednesday after picking up an injury during this afternoon’s Merseyside derby victory, Jürgen Klopp has confirmed.

The Reds’ No.19, who opened the scoring early in Saturday’s 3-1 win over Everton at Anfield with a brilliant individual effort, was forced off 12 minutes into the second half after a collision with Leighton Baines.
Klopp provided an update on Mane’s condition in his post-match press conference, with the Liverpool boss revealing the forward is set to miss the midweek home meeting with the Cherries.
“Today we played a really good game. Nearly everything was perfect, we win it, the performance was good [but] then we lose Sadio Mane. When I saw him in the dressing room, it didn’t look like he’ll be ready for Wednesday,” said the manager.
“We will see, hopefully it’s not that serious, but of course it’s not nothing and that makes our life not easier, I would say.”
When asked to clarify what type of injury Mane had sustained, Klopp replied: “I don’t know exactly, I don’t want to speculate now.
“Obviously he has pain and it didn’t look like it’s only a knock or a muscle or something, but we have to wait.
“When I came in I was looking for him immediately and I saw him on the bed. He’d already had treatment, and it didn’t look like he felt really comfortable.”

We'll NOT be fine.

Fingers crossed that he'll not be out for long. We deserve some good luck in regards to injuries

Echo are reporting he walked out of the ground. So maybe it isn't as bad as first feared. He still will be having a scan tomorrow to see the extend of the injury.

More to the point -what about Banana

I'm more worried about Stoke

On the replay, it looked like Mane broke his foot, or perhaps even damaged some ankle ligaments.
Not optimistic that this is just a knock.

I know what you mean, but one would surely assume that, if that was the case, he wouldn't have just walked out of the ground without some kind of boot or crutches.

Yeah the replay looked pretty nasty. His foot seemed to have been twisted round at a very strange angle relative to his body.

Id be amazed if he plays again this season. It has to be torn ligaments if not broken metatarsals.

The medical team wont let you walk out of the stadium without crutches or a leg brace if they were concerned about any of those type of injuries.

Yes. When they let him walk, no wait, jog, when they let him jog off the pitch, then see him collapse to the ground in pain, I'm sure that was just an isolated lapse in judgement.

And then after he collapsed again and was clearly looking for arms to help carry him off they just fucking walked off.
I couldnt fucking believe my eyes.

To be fair, I think at that point they were being instructed to fuck off by Sadio.

They wouldnt let him walk out of the ground without crutches or a knee brace regardless, not after getting treatment and some sort of assessment after being taken off injured.

If and when he's ruled out for the season, I will call upon your feelings of betrayal and anger.

So, just as we're clear. People are comparing Mane getting some treatment on the field, pumped up with adrenaline infront of 53,000 fans and trying to carry on, as some players do. With him walking out of the ground 2,5 hours later after getting treatment, an early assessement and being told or knowing himself that it might be a serious injury or not?
As if the club and medical team would let the player himself decide if he needed crutches or a leg brace, and saying "okay" if he said he didnt want to wear it?!

That obviously wouldnt happen to a player the club pays 100k a week, 34 mill fee and is one of the best players at the club. Nor would the player want to make this injury worse after cooling down and getting some answers from the medical team. He wouldnt walk out of the ground knowing he could make the whole situation worse than it already is.

Sooo, he might be out for a few weeks with a strain or maybe ligament damage, but I highely doubt its serious given he was allowed to walk and travel home without crutches or a knee brace.
Its not a metatarsal injury either without the protective boot.

If thats the case, I'll apply to the job as club doctor, as the current staff havent got a clue about what they.re doing.

Yeah, no problem at all. We'll find out when he shows up to training and puts stress on that ankle and tries kicking a ball with it. I suspect then the club might go oh shit, perhaps we better get a proper scan done.

*prays for his flexibility to have saved him.

If that was me My leg would have snapped off.

Seeing as he has had a knee scan it will be no problem putting stress on that ankle. ;)

According Bascombe we'll get the results from the scan later today. Feels like our season depends on how long he's out.
