Sampdoria want Balotelli!

A return to Italy looks the likeliest outcome in the summer, and Samp president Massimo Ferrero says the Serie A club would be keen to bring him back to his home country.
He told La Gazzetta dello Sport: “I would take him -- he’d be the real Balotelli again here. He wouldn’t have too much pressure here in Genoa.”

Ferrero did claim, however, that Balotelli’s hefty wages - he earns around £100,000 at present - had become a problem for the 24-year-old.

He said: “He’s lost his hunger. He’s earning too much. If he was only on bread and water, he’d be a champion again.”

If this wasn't going to cost us a massive wage settlement this is an absolute no brainer.

But in all reality we'll end up paying him off.

So the question is would we better off keeping him or subsidising him for the next two years to go there?

I'm usually against loans for anyone over 21, but it'd be ideal with Mario.

If we loan him out we get a loan fee, and pay maybe 30% of his wages. That way, on the off chance he has a brilliant season, a bigger dog who has more money to spend might be as stupid as us and spunk €15m. on him.

Plus his potential for disruption's always present in the background even when he's behaving himself, which is well worth getting off our backs.

I can see Balotelli turning the move down on the basis that Sampdoria aren't a big enough club but, if he'll go for it, Loan Loan Loan.

Why do Italian clubs always want frieking loans!? If we are to loan him out, there better be an iron-clad guarantee at the end of it, that they will purchase him.

You know Italian clubs will go for the loan with option to buy.
Hopefully we'll be able to get him off our books permanently but it will cost us a hefty fee for a while being stuck with part of his wages.

I know what you mean, but I'd get this particular player out the door regardless. There'd be no advantage of any kind in keeping him.

I'd keep him. Unless we sign a load of superstar strikers this summer we'll need all the options we can get.

He's just posted a pic on instagram showing him holding up a pregnancy test stick. And he's looking glum, yet strangely excited.

Going or likely to go : Lambert, Borini and Balo.

Remaining : Sturridge, Origi

So 2 slots open. Will BR give one to Ojo or Sinclair ? Doubt it, not when we already have Origi and Ibe as new youngsters in the squad next season. So that means 2 strikers in or one and we keep Balo. I'd be OK with either solution so long as we have 4 good or better striking options come next season. Balo is good enough for #4 for sure and he has never looked disruptive in training .. quite the opposite, the lads seem to love him.

His footballing ability is good enough to make him 1st choice, but he can't be relied on to produce it and hasn't even come close to doing so for us.

As for his disruptive potential , (a) just look at the wobbly which the Studge threw when Balotelli took the ball off Hendo for that penalty and (b) it's not just a matter of his popularity or otherwise among the players. If he ends up at loggerheads with the manager - as he has at every single other club he's played for - the effect will be the same. It is 100% not a risk worth taking.

the best we can hope for is swapping him for some Italian supertalent we could not afford in cash terms alone as we will probably be raped by the transfer fee we get for him.

Whatever it'll cost us to get rid of him - and make n mistake, we're gonna get pure stung when it comes to it - it'll be worth it. He's one of the worst professionals I've ever seen play for us. A complete fucking disaster from minute one.

Plus, I'm beyond his schtick. That controversial, prickly, outspoken, bewildering persona that amused me at the beginning now just fucking grates. He's a useless dick. Fuck him off.

In regards to Balotelli, Sampdoria simply do not have the ability to pay a transfer fee that would meet Liverpool's expectations.

Yes but JJ those are two patently unfair accusations because a) even BR said Balo was the designated penalty taker - not his fault Hendo was too thick to realise it and b) he hasn't been at loggerheads with BR, so it's a little unfair, if historically accurate, to judge a young player on if/buts and maybes based on mistakes he made when younger. Balo looks older than he is and the fact he's been around for while make people forget he is still only 24 yrs old.

I've said previously that I don't think Balo is suited to the way we play and that it was a mistake buying him, however if he keeps his nose clean then I have no problem keeping him as one of our backup squad strikers.

I doubt they can really pay the wages either.

Italy is not a good destination from our point of view. He needs to go to somewhere like Turkey where they have money to burn.
