Think its going to be Van Gaal. Been wooing for a Premier League move, RVP connection/factor, no compensation required, has the big-name profile.

But Man Utd's remaining fixtures are:
April 26 Norwich City (H)
May 3 Sunderland (H)
May 6 Hull City (H)
May 11 Southampton (A)

If Giggs get 4 wins out of 4 as caretaker manager, would that make them think twice?

Oh, has Hughes been mentioned yet? :p

I'm hoping Barca bin off Tata Martino and get De Boer taking him out of the equation. Klopp seems very unlikely to leave Dortmund (which is why I didn't even put him on the list), which then just leaves Simeone from that bracket of manager. On the one hand, there is a chance he'll struggle to replicate what he's done at A.Madrid at a bigger club, on the other... he's been really fucking impressive. Probably the most impressive manager in European football at the moment. I'd hate for him to end up at Utd.

Tor Kristian Karlsen said there's no way that Simeone's methods would go down well at UTD

It's amusing because the club is riven in two in terms of attitude. On the one hand they've got completely amoral commercial operators who'd probably be happy to bring in a Japanese manager for a year or so just to reap the benefits from the asian market, or at least go for a tried and tested Mourinho figure and to hell with the image, and on the other hand they've got these crusty, ultra-conservative Noel White types, like golf club membership grandees, who are still obsessed with bringing in someone who'll wear the blazer with pride and bow to Bobby Charlton. So hopefully that internal incoherence will remain for a long time!

They're unlikely to grant our wish and appoint Giggs as manager so who is the next best option?

Van Gaal is going to be preoccupied with Holland so it'd hamper their summer planning. Plus he's a bit of a mentalist. Could be good?

Giggs is gonna demand access to players' wives before he picks the team. Can't see Rooney getting a game then

We're not lucky enough to get giggs, and get two clowns back to back in there.
Unless they pull a surprise out of the bag, someone amazing, or real shit, it looks likely to be Van Gaal. If it is him though, it's going to mightily fuck up their rebuild this summer as he wont be about to do it, and he'll have no idea what needs doing. He'll just be presented with a load of random players when he gets back.

Van Gaal will want to rebuild totally though. Not his style to just be given players at all.

Would Rodgers go there?

I'm sure he's talked about his dad being a Liverpool fan but I can't remember seeing anything where Brendan declares who he supported as a boy. Maybe it's deliberately avoided as he was a Utd fan and it would be his dream job.

I'd be willing to bet that, even if Rodgers had been a Manc as a kid, wild horses wouldn't drag him there now.

He supported Sheffield Wednesday apparently

if I was a manure fan I would want Simone, but appaz his english is not too good and he seems settled in Madrid.

Part of me is a bit surprised that Ferguson didn't 'reluctantly' come out of retirement until the end of the season, at which point he would of course 'be persuaded against his will, for the good of the club' to carry on for just another year.

Hopefully they will go with Giggs. Out of all of them he has the best chance of being shit.

Or, dream scenario, England have a fantastic World Cup and Woy is offered the United job.

Presumably because his cousin Nigel Worthington played for Wednesday from when Brendan was 11 onwards. (Wiki).

He'd be fucking insane to take over again.

Massively aging below confidence squad & a full rebuilding job that if he gets wrong could damage his entire reputation? No chance.

Mike Phelan will make a comeback. It's a no-brainer really as he was the 'undercover' boss for the last few years anyway (according to him).

I voted van Gaal because he is available & by some accounts has the same demeanour as ferguson, but I wouldn't be surprised if Mourinho, wins nothing this year and throws enough of a hissy fit about not having decent strikers to get sacked and thus become suddenly available, he is that much of a spoiled brat!
