Sooo, The Rest Of The Season

Lucas and Toure as a CB pairing..

Fucking hell...

Why not. Toure is probably our best central defender in the air and he read the game excellent. They have played together a couple of times and so far not made a single big mistake. Both of them have a very good first touch and both of them are very good passers. Lucas is our best tackler whatever some muppets say.

I would play them together least until they start to make big mistakes.

I also don't think it is a coincidence that Mig played much better yesterday. Lucas organised the defense and Mig could concentrate on the saving bit. Skrtel, Sakho, Lovren can't organise a defense even if their lives depended on it. Suddenly our central defenders wasn't all over the place.

Id play Caulker ahead of Toure.. He is far more dominant in the air..

Lucas is our best and worst tackler..

He is the worst as he is clumsy... last night was a prime example.. he may not of brought down the player for the freekick, but his clumsy nature made it look like he did.. That his problem

Lucas is not Alan Hanson.. he needs dropping from the side if anything

Allen should be playing ahead of him in Midfield.. Caulker should be playing at CB ahead of Lucas..

If we had an absolute beast of a centre back in the squad I could get behind at least experimenting with playing Lucas regularly alongside him.

To be fair, Lucas has been largely excellent in his CB cameos this year, offering composure, organisation and some nous at the back.

Focus on the EL to the extent that it distracts us enough to ensure we don't qualify for it again next season, should we fail to win it.

Are we not practically in the Europa League already for next season? If Man City win the League Cup they are still likely to qualify for Champions League so wouldn't their EL place fall to us? I'm sure that's what happened with Birmingham City and Hull City.

So unless we win the EL or finish 4th... EL next year is inevitable.

I think we should all hibernate. Not enough good players to make experimentation that fun to watch. I don't want Klopp to be given false hope. I want him determined to rip this squad up. I just don't want to watch it.
We've gone from -7C two weeks ago to 20C this week ... too late to hibernate. I'm waking up and want to eat something !

Nope..

if Man City finish in the top 4..

The EL place goes to 6th place finish in the league..

If a team who wins the FA cup finishes in the Top 4 the EL place goes to the FA Cup runners up

If the FA cup Runners up are in the Top 4 and League Cup winners are in the Top 4 then the 'FA Cup' EL place goes to 6th place and the 'League Cup' EL place drops to 7th..

Excellent news! Thanks for clarifying.

Sturridge, while painfully slow and lacking any sort of explosiveness (a given with his fitness levels, of course), still scared the pants off their defenders every time he had the ball at his feet. More of that, please,

here we go again. you do realise the cunt will be injured again within two weeks?

Season's a write-off. We will finish about 7th, which isn't good enough. Been disappointing really.

Will winning the League Cup make much difference? Is anyone that arsed? I dunno, I will probably get more excited on the day.

we're not going to win the cup though. it's simply not how we roll these days. we will have to watch sterling's fucking unbelievably punchable smarm face jumping up and down with all the other twats. and the dickhead commentators all banging on about 'this is why he left'. that's how we roll these days.

Cups all the way now.
I can't see fourth now so just treat it as one big pre season. Not arsed about the Europa next season.
I think Klopp has had much more of a baptism of fire than he reckoned with the league itself and the types of games it brings, but also the number of games and the quite ferocious frequency of matches when competing on all fronts.

We panned them senseless not long ago, and they're hardly firing on all cylinders right now, so they'll know they're in for a game and have a good chance of losing to us. With a departing manager at the helm.
We've got a few of our best attacking talents coming back from injury at just the right time too.
I fancy us for the league cup.

The best thing, as awful as it is, would probably be an exit in the next round of the EL. That would give Klopp the time he needs between games to prepare the team as he needs to. Obviously, I'd sooner we went on and won it instead - but I really don't see us getting in a proper preseason with an international tournament on the horizon.

yes we battered them. when it counted for fuck all. we'll lose when it matters.

Ibe like many others are not good enough. He really is not a good player.

I think the more this season has opened up, the more this has become obvious. He does have some quality and occasionally looks a real threat with is pace, but there's little end product and he seems a bit lacking in game intelligence at times. He tracks back and puts in a shift, but when you want him to be decisive in a good attacking position, he nearly always fucks it up.

Regarding Stewart, it's a bit of a turn around really. When we picked him up on a free, alot of people dismissed him as not good enough, "picking up Spurs rejects", was the type of comments that were tossed around at the time.

Hopefully it can be taught to him. At least he's only in the infancy of his career.

There will always be the criticism that comes when players don't live up to others that we have had. Or others who are at a higher level.

It's understandable. I recall loads of divvies quacking on about how we should be happy to sell Sterling for £49m, because Ibe was as good, or even possibly better. Which was retarded, obviously, because Sterling is, was and always will be, miles better than Ibe.

And when we see a promising midfield player like Brannagan, Stewart, Coady - or whoever - the opinion is split between "new Gerrard" and "At the same age Gerrard was already world class", which is a bit harsh, because Gerrard was a phenomenon, and nobody we have now, or will have, is likely to come anywhere near his quality; quality that was obvious as soon as he played.

But all that said, it's a fair enough concern to voice when a player is 22 or 23 and is only just hovering around the first team. If they were genuinely good enough, they would be in it. And the majority probably aren't. Yeah, there's always a late developer, or someone who takes a chance offered that is lucky or due to injury and circumstance, and they prove their quality and value (Harry Kane).

But let's face it, we don't have any Gerrard/ Fowler/ McManaman/ Owen/ Carragher quality in this group. What we have, at best, is a player who may well be good enough to replace Lucas at DM (Stewart) - faintest praise ever - maybe a more reliable LB than Moreno (Smith, although flanno is better), possibly a better winger than Ibe (Ojo), and arguably a similar quality player to Lallana (Texeira).

Let's not start sucking each other's cocks just yet. They aren't anything that special.

I would agree with that. The thing that frustrates me about Ibe at the moment is that he doesn't seem to be playing like a young lad eager to take his chance. You can see the urgency and desire to impress from players like Kent, Ojo, Smith and Teixeira when they have come in recently. He's got talent, he isn't applying it as well as he could though.

You're right, but it's a bit strange that three of the four you mentioned are in the 22-23 bracket. Considering we promote kids fairly early these days to Melwood and to the reserves (say 16-18), it's odd that there are a few players there who are knocking on the first team door this late in their development, when it seems they've been left languishing under other regimes for the last few years. Maybe they weren't getting the breaks they should have had earlier, maybe it's just coincidence, or maybe we're really fucking desperate. I don't know.

I think you'll find the best thing would be us winning the fucking thing. Christ what has happened to us. WE ARE LIVERPOOL>
You do know that if we win it we win a major trophy and get a CL spot, right?

I did say "obviously, I'd sooner we went on and won it". And yes, I know there is a Champions League spot up for grabs. Klopp has complained a few times about lack of time for training, this team would benefit from one game a week ahead of next season.

And again, obviously, I'd sooner we went on and won it.

No, the best thing would be to win the PL. But neither that nor the EL are realistic now.
