Do you want a new stadium or more suarez level players?

I'd be more than happy with 60k seats, better facilities and the balance put into the team, than 10 years of no funds paying off a new stadium. Just look at the GONErs

Yep, the redevelopment is definitely the best option, I'm sure in the future they'll be able to expand even more, as long as they start looking into buying what they need to buy now.

It's an extremely sensitive subject for obvious reasons, but I'd be amazed if within the next ten years safe standing is introduced. That will mean possible redevelopment of the Kop & it'd get to around 20k capacity.

I suppose we will have to wait until the end of the month but I wonder will they make the main stand and anfield road one continuos stand rather than 2 separate ones. It seems it would make sense to join them and have the additional seating around the corner like a bowl rather than the 2 defined stands

Hope not, hate bowls as stadiums. Much prefer to have 4 distinct stands

Amazing that the Arse generate over twice as much matchday revenue as we do.

The benefits of being a London based team with a new stadium. Corporate ticket delight. There simply isnt enough business travel in the NW to challenge the amount of people who think "what shall we do for corporate entertainment for these yanks coming over?" and then get Arsenal tickets at £400 a pop for the boxes.

It completely dwarfs the Kop and the Centenary.

To be fair, filling in the corners doesn't make an existing stadium with stands into a 'bowl'. They did it years ago in Ibrox, for instance, and it didn't stop the three sides of the ground that were joined by the corners areas from maintaining their own distinct identities as stands.

I was seriously injured at Hillsborough but I would be delighted to see safe standing on the Kop. The same as they have in Germany. It's far safer than all trying to stand up when it all seated.

Guess it's a mix of good stewarding and the introduction of those rail seats that they use in Germany for Bundesliga games.

I've spoken to another person injured at Hillsborough who said the same, however I've also heard some of the victims families state their objections, & I don't feel I can tell them to feel otherwise tbh.

I do see it happening long term though, I believe a lower league club has a section of them for the first time ever this season as the stadium is used for other sports & the debate is gathering slow momentum.

My personal views are that it seems exceptionally safe, with & the fact you can stand, sit & actually lean back using it as a stool if you wish, is brilliant, you could stand to sing & rest back without having to worry about not being able to see over people's head. Jumping up when someone scores now can often mean badly damaged shins & people toppling down a couple of rows. The seats towards the back of the Kop are so tight people often do this.

There's also the increase in stewards, tougher safety standards, exceptional ticket checks and generally better organisation now. I'd like to think that there could never be another Hillsborough, no matter if there was standing all round.

As long as each supporter is allocated a seat/space per ticket, there also wouldn't be any overcrowding.
If it can happen, it'll be great.

Haven't lived in Liverpool for a loooong time. So have a question.
Would a 60,000 seater be full house every game (apart from some league cup games)?
If that's a yes, would, say, an 80,000 seater be full every game?

Just wondering if 60,000 is out of necessity (land, road, etc) or whether the number crunchers felt it was the best size vs cost of build.

The latter.

There'll be some games with a load of spares. Specifically mid week games & cup games.

That said, if we are league champions there'll be less spares as locals who don't normally go will suddenly become massive fans again, like the dickheads asking me if I can get tickets every week & looking surprised when I laugh at them.

....which all begs the question, is it really worth it, for just an extra 15000 seats? Surely 80000 would be a more realistic target when the works are going ahead anyway?

As an architectural technician, this is me thinking as I do in my job. It's cheaper to do it all at once, than having to do it twice.

60k was always the limit imposed by the council because of infrastructure problems when we were looking to build a new stadium.

Presumably that's still the case now.
