Fuck knows. I hope we ditch 3 at the back and set up with intent to prove a point. Who knows, a few players might start shitting themselves about their futures.

Rues? :)

Ming
Sahko
Skrtel
Gomez
Moreno
Clyne
MIlner
Coutino
Lucas
Ibe
Studge
Ings

I'm most curious as to who will be the Lazarus figure, if we have one. What if Kloppo arrives and love love loves Enrique? Or that Portuguese center half we've never seen? Or calls Lazar back? Or throws Teixera in ahead of Lallana?

Tex will be it no doubt.

Maybe Lovren but I doubt it.

Benteke is due back about now and Firmino on the 17th so both should be available. Lovren (22nd Oct) and Henderson (21stNov.) both deffo out. Flanno is due back Dec. 15 (or is that 16).

I won't reveal my tea lads until I have a good look at the players. I've seen the back 3 doesn't work and we conceded too many goals. Hopefully with a few of the lads back from injury I can pick a strong side. Ill tell you my team in due course

The players virtually pick themselves .. anyone here could do it ! I'm more interested in your formation and tactics ;)

Could be interesting for some of the midfielders. I can imagine Gomez dropping back to the bench initially.

Resurrection of Enrique? It's not what I'd like to see but perhaps Sakho at left back until the new manager gets the opportunity to bring in another LB. The choices are pretty limited at the moment. I'd like to see Moreno given a shot but I reckon he must look like a liability in training. Rodgers never looked keen on him. If we had better Cm's I could see Milner and Coutinho being shifted out wide... Allen , Can & Lucas are like licorice, they all have significant flaws but somebody somewhere is going to love them.

Should be interesting to see how Milner reacts if he does eventually get pushed out wide. His deal/agreement to play central appeared to be between him and Rodgers and was likely paramount to him coming to us.

Origi to start with Sturridge. Unless Benteke is back fit...

Origi started for Belgium in the world cup so is likely better known to foreign managers

This is a scary fixture .... damn i am so excited with the prospect of a new manager. Will he try and win or will he go for a defensive formation - possobilities are endless !!!! Spurs will be up for it though as they are probably fed up losing against us in the league.

If Klopp gets appointed and tries to create something similar to his Dortmund team from our current squad, I would say it would be:

Basic formation: 4-2-3-1

Central defense: At Dortmund he's been blessed with the best and the most consistent CB pairing in Germany, so it's bit hard to deduce from that what he could do with our defense. Probably Skrtel-Sakho at least initially, as he doesn't seem to like experimenting with very young CBs too much. Don't see him getting along with Lovren. Really curious what he thinks of Can and his best position.

Full backs: Klopp likes attacking, well-rounded, high-energy full-backs. Occasionally he's been known to stick a CM in there when the first-choice FB was injured. I am pretty sure he would quite like both Clyne and Moreno. Not so much Enrique or Gomez (as FB).

CM: Klopp likes to rotate his CMs fairly often, he would select the midfield pair based on the overall balance of the team and current form rather than selecting his "best pairing" and sticking with it. Considering the high-energy game his teams play, rotation in this position is pretty much a necessity (same goes for AMs). For CM he likes the high-energy type (Sven Bender/Henderson), the experienced leader type (Kehl/Milner), and the playmaker/passing metronome type (Gundogan/Şahin/Allen?/Can??) and can use them in different combinations. Not sure I remember seeing a player like Lucas in Dortmund.

AMs/Wingers: I think Klopp is quite flexible with the types of players he can use in these positions. They could be playmaker types (Gotze, Kagawa), orthodox wingers (Kuba, Grosskreutz), strikers (Reus, Aubumeyang), and even CMs (Mkhitaryan, Leitner). I think the main requirements are willingness to press and creativity and teamwork. I think from our current squad certainly Coutinho, Lallana and Firmino would be among the top choices, and I could also see a hard-working striker like Ings being used there. It's also quite possible to imagine Henderson being played in one of the advanced positions.

Strikers: Klopp doesn't usually play with an orthodox target man, I think the main quality he is looking for in a striker is being a good finisher, all other qualities (speed, target-man-ability etc) are just a bonus. His most successful and consistently used strikers over the years were Lewandowski (elite target man), Lucas Barrios (not too quick, fox-in-a-box type) and Aubumeyang (super-quick). Sturridge would definitely be the top choice, Benteke probably a back-up.

Here are a couple of possible, very speculative starting line-ups of players from current LFC squad as managed by Klopp as imagined by me: :)

----------Skrtel---Sakho---------
Clyne---------------------Moreno
----------Milner--------------------
------------------Allen--------------
Lallana----Hendo----Coutinho
------------Sturridge---------------

----------Skrtel---Sakho---------
Clyne---------------------Moreno
----------Milner--------------------
------------------Hendo-----------
Ings-------Firmino----Coutinho
------------Benteke---------------

I thought I had tickets for this but they've fucked up. I do have very cheap returns to London on the train if anyone else wants them.

It's a pity he doesn't have much history of giving young CB's a go (Gomez, Llori). Also odd that he doesn't like to employ a DM. I'm hoping the some of the parts add up to counter that. We can also expect to see players being deployed out of position? Well, all managers do that so there isn't much we can do. Thanks for some info Rurik.

In Klopp's teams all players press, so they don't necessarily need a dedicated DM. The press IS the defense. When it works, they are incredibly difficult to play against, but when the pressing game isn't happening for some reason (TBF this didn't happen too often under Klopp), they leak goals like crazy.

Correction about young CBs – both Hummels and Subotic were 21 or 22 when they came to Dortmund and immediately established a first-choice partnership. You can say this means he trusts young CBs, but maybe they were just both very, very good. What I know for sure is that Klopp doesn't rotate or experiment with the back 4 much; once it's settled they just play in every game barring injuries. Klopp's 3rd and 4th choice CBs were usually more experienced and expected to be ready to step in and deliver when one of Hummels or Subotic was out.

Sounds uncomfortably like the Rodgers template.
