Sturridge wants to play in the middle. I really hope Rodgers continues to play him there even when Suarez is back.

Suarez or Sturridge can play wide no problem. In fact Sturridge likes to play right and Suarez likes to play left. Coutinho can play a bit deeper and pick them both out.

We play 4-2-3-1, Sturridge is the "1," Luis is "in the hole." We did it last season and it worked great.

Post match interview with Sturridge:

"I'm just playing my normal game, to be honest," he said. "I've probably matured a little bit with my confidence with being in the first team.

"I've not played as a centre-forward as much as I would have liked to in the past but this is how I have been as a kid - and now I'm being given an opportunity to do it in a first-team environment."

OK, he's not saying that he doesn't like to play on the right but he clearly prefers playing in the middle.

[article=http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2410483/MARTIN-SAMUEL-Manchester-United-Ed-Woodward-transfer-blunder.html]After the goalless draw with Chelsea and Sunday’s defeat at Liverpool, it was calculated that the last time Manchester United went back-to-back league games without scoring was May 2007.

On May 9 that year, United drew 0-0 at Stamford Bridge, before losing 1-0 at home to West Ham United on May 13.

Grim stuff — but actually, it’s even worse than imagined.

For Manchester United, the 2006-07 league season effectively ended on May 6, when Chelsea drew 1-1 at Arsenal and handed Sir Alex Ferguson his ninth Premier League title.

The two games in which United failed to score were, from their perspective, dead.

The previous season a 3-0 defeat at Chelsea on April 29, 2006, was followed by a goalless draw at home to Middlesbrough — but, again, the Chelsea match ended the title race, and by the time United played Middlesbrough all they were scrapping over was second or third place with Liverpool. Champions League qualification had long been secured.

So to find the last time United failed to score in consecutive Premier League games with the title live, one has to rewind to April 2005, when a 0-0 draw at home to Blackburn Rovers on April 2 was followed a week later by a 2-0 defeat by bottom club Norwich City.

Hope of success was optimistic by then — on the morning of the Norwich defeat United stood 13 points adrift of Chelsea with seven games left — but it was still mathematically possible.

And the last time Manchester United went three league games without scoring?

November 7, 1992, when a 1-0 reverse at Aston Villa followed a 1-0 defeat at home to Wimbledon and a 0-0 draw at Blackburn.

Manchester United next play Crystal Palace on September 14. No pressure then.[/article]
