Is turning into our main man at the moment.

How fucking good is this kid?

A City supporting friend of mine txted me 20mins into the game today to say he's looking forward to the WC on the back of watching some of our play. I, of course, reminded him that England are managed by Hodgson, and not to confuse anything he's watching now with what we'll get served up in the summer.

Still, I reckon Sterling has to be amongst the first names on the teamsheet for 'ol Woy right about now.

I said in the match thread that he's worth 50 million, and I stand by that. His potential is staggering.

It isn't just the pace, skill and strength - it's the work rate and attitude - it's that with the likes of Gerrard and Rooney had at the age of 18, and I won't be surprised at all if he's England's best player in the next generation. He could easily be a top 5-10 player in the world.

He's the fucking nuts.
Probably has been our most crucial player in the title run in.

He's our best option as 3rd striker, probably at right back too, can be devastating in the hole or on either flank.

I love this kid, and we seem to have got everything right so far with his development, even from before Mr Rodgers arrived.

He's on 30k a week too. I'd be amazed if we don't triple his wages and get him signing an extension in the next year.

If Roy has any sense he'll be deploying the diamond midfield in the WC and giving Sterling freedom to play the same role as he's playing for us.

Yup. There seems to be nothing he can't do at the moment.

In a way, I don't want him join England and pick up bad habits!

He's come on massively this season. Really matured too.

Love him and probably our player of the second half of the season

Right now, when we have possession, I want him to get the ball. Not just because he has the pace to take it past opponents, but because he takes very good care of the ball. It's not often you see him dispossessed in a straight 1-to-1 situation by his defender, or losing it due to being overly-fancy with the ball at his feet. He's undroppable and unplayable at this point.

Anyone notice the similarities with a certain John Barnes ?

The way he struts his chest up and run with both hands flapping wide as if he's about to take off the ground and fly.
The way he dribbles.
The way he ghosts past players as if they're not there.

Yup, Barnes in the making.

He uses his body wonderfully, just like Torres used to do for us.
He'll be a star and it's a joy to watch, I hope he also gains a few pounds of muscle in the summer, he'll be a beast.

His idol is said to be John Barnes... So I imagine that what he is building his game towards. .

Cracking player World Class player in the making

"Sterling is best young player in European football now."

“Sterling should win the YPOTY this season. and it should be under-21s, not up to 24. pleased with his maturity. improving intelligence"

“Sterling played point of diamond, then wide in 4-3-3. has brain and belief to be good player, humble kid, first goal fantastic. Second goal was perfect. bit of luck with deflection but you hit the target, has a chance to score. His ball to Suarez - top midfield play"

Yeah hes a fucking gem.
I was massively unconvinced last year but happy to be wrong.

I thought he'd be good but not this good, this quick. He's been handled brilliantly last year after the ups and downs of last year. Normally, you have to raid Barca for these 15 year old world class talents - we pulled it off with QPR. Respect.

That was Sterling's 10th goal of the season. In his first full season in the league at the age of 19. To put that into perspective, Ronaldo, Messi and Rooney in their first full seasons:

Ronaldo - 2004/05 - 9 goals
Messi - 2006/07 - 17 goals
Rooney - 2003/04 - 9 goals

Don't think there've been any other teenagers out there in the last decade with that kind of production.

Can't agree more.
He's a Pep Guardiala type player, for his old Barca or current Bayern.
Need to make sure he's kept happy and his head isn't turned by the wrong people.
