Sterling's New Contract

It's not as if contracts are taken seriously these days, so he may as well sign it so that his agent can concentrate on negotiating with other clubs.

All Liverpool can do is protect this kids value cos he's certainly not going to be sticking around too much longer.

Why Stu? There is a reluctance from English players to go abroad. Has this changed? Bale is recent times has opted for a big move abroad but bar Owen, Beckham and Woodgate I can't think of any other high profile transfer in recent years. Before that there was Ince, Gazza and Platt.

Unless you mean he'll move to another English side?

I hope we can keep him here for his best years anyway.

This agent at ISM is always at it. If you remember, before Sterling even got a chance in the first team, some stories were planted about how Spurs were planning to sign him because he was 'eager' to go back to London. Then before he got his first proper contract some more stories were planted. I doubt Sterling knows much about it all but Carra's right, he needs to tell this guy to shut up.

Not that I disagree, but you could look at it the other way (as maybe Sterling does). His agent talks, and something good happens to him.

This. I think he'll stay for a long time. He's also got his kids here.

Journalists are twats. PSG ready to step in because of contract deadlock!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get to fuck.

Oh dear, someone had to pick that bait. Sadly, you are now relegated to basement poster level :)

I was also considering commenting on how we need to offer improved contracts to both Raheem and Sterling.

BTW, has anyone figured out why Ilori hasnt figured for the reserves?

I'd love him to sign up for another five years, but let's face it, it won't stop him leaving if he wants to, just the fee we get for him.

Can't really be arsed what we're paying if it's ~100k a week, but make sure it's 5yrs, and there's a ridiculous release clause in it, 80mill etc.

Why would we, as supporters, want such a clause? It's only there to protect the interests of players, unless it's something stupid like the 1 billion euro clause with Ronaldo.
If Sterling really is a potential superstar, we'd be crazy to put a figure like 80m in the contract in this ever inflating market.

We should put a stipulation in his new contract that he doesn't play for Ing-ur-land as long as that owl-faced cunt is in charge.

If that's true and we are looking to tie him down with 125,000 ppw then he has done well. He is far from the finished article yet IMO, he needs to add a little more decision making and goal scoring before he will actually be worth that kind of money but that said with the oil clubs around willing to snaffle up prospects then we don't really have a choice...

I just hope he doesn't let it dent his hunger because if he can make a similar jump forward in the next 18 months as he did in the last then we will have one hell of a player.

City. Chelsea. Real. Bayern. Barca.
I hope we can keep him at the club too but any of those clubs can offer a silly fee and CL football.
Currently it is looking like we are one season wonders.
