A couple of hours ago he posted something like a goodbye message to the LA Galaxy on his Instagram. Could he be coming home?

I know it's too early to say if we will be in the title race or not come May but, the thought of Stevie joining us in Jan, as player or player/coach, not just a coach, and lifting that title in May just sounds absolutely amazing, almost too good to be true.

In other words, I would love to have him back.

I think by finding ways to include Stevie G in the final medal count if we end up winning the league is an insult to his legacy. Yes, I do know that not having a league medal is the only thing missing from his achievements. But his achievements are something 99.9 % of the footballers can be proud off. And he played a central defining role in pretty much every honor he has won. Unlike others who may have more medals but whose contributions were marginal.

They will be talking about his role in the 2005 Champions league final and FA cup final in another 50 years. Luke Chadwick, Gary Neville, and Sherwood might have the premier league medal but does he really need that to cement his legacy?

I don't think there Is even anything that can be an insult to his legacy.

Everyone knows there is no one more deserving of a league title than him. He has almost single handedly kept Liverpool in the top of world football throughout his career.

If Gerrard is ready to sit on the bench and be an impact sub he's very welcome. We could also do with his height in the box. Quit the talk about league titles and shit.

He's not good enough for LA Galaxy, ferchristsake. It's over.
This, oh a million times this

And i don't think he'd be a good coach

Or a good ambassador

Or a good pundit

......so.......yeah

*shrugs*

If we have the league locked up with 5 games to go, sign him and give him 10 minutes every game ... That gives him a medal no?
Otherwise, we don't need the distraction ...

But thats cheap. He more than likely wouldn't want it if it was that way

or maybe he would, i dunno

Last time Klopp was asked about Gerrard he was adamant about him not returning to play. He also mentioned that he was impressed with his fitness levels.
This time around he's more coy.
I think he's gonna let Gerrard train with us just to gauge where he is as a player at the moment.
With Mané, Firmino, Coutinho, Lallana and Wijnaldum starting, we don't have any real proven attacking quality on the bench for the midfield.
Lucas is defensive, Grujic is young and inexperienced, Can is more of a work horse and the rest are strikers.
Gerrard could be our 70th minute player.
This bench:
Mignolet, Moreno, Lucas, Can, Gerrard, Origi, Sturridge

Looks a lot better than:
Mignolet, Moreno, Lucas, Can, Grujic, Origi, Sturridge

On paper. All depends on how good Gerrard is.

I wouldn't want Stevie Gerrard back on Liverpool's payroll unless he was useful to the club in some way.

He's finished as a player and I don't know if he has any talent for coaching. When he was Liverpool captain, he tended to moan at his team-mates rather than inspiring an encouraging them.

We've built a fantastic camaraderie, would gerrard coming in disrupt it?

Former captain, not getting minutes, the Kop would be chanting his name and might hold ill will to klopp for not bringing him in to the game frequently. seems like it could be putting a spark to a powder keg

I'd love him to comeback as an impact sub, seeing his name on the team sheet again, but i can't see it happening. I think it'll be in some sort of coaching capacity instead.

Klopps said there is always space for him , whatever that means .

Klopp seems incredibly pragmatic and not someone who would allow passion to rule over logic ,as anything other than letting Gerrard get some experience with the academy would do, he is a legend after all. He should be nowhere near the first team set up though , not in any capacity , at this point in time.

He was as good a captain off the pitch as he was a bad/so-so one on it. He could be a toxic presence on the pitch, just when his teammates needed a boost, but by all accounts he was very impressive around the club, so I'm not bothered about him coming back behind the scenes. At the Academy he'll have his old mentor Steve Heighway to intervene if he needs it, and Inglethorpe is a shrewd character to guide him.

Fair enough, macca. I've had my doubts about this but, if he was that much better a leader away from the pitch even during his playing days, it's worth a go.

Get real guys! At this stage in history, Stephen Hawking would make a better impact sub!
I can just imagine Hawking's computer voice saying "On my head, son". He could get a new amp so he can be overhead above the crowd.
