Sturridge Back in the new year... God willing - (looks up to the heavens) :p

We can certainly blame Hodgson for the initial injury but he's had 2 further setbacks whilst training with us so either Sturridge is really unlucky or maybe our medical team have misjudged or misdiagnosed the injury. It doesn't seem like he's been rushed back but with his injury record over the years the summers striking buys look to be a mistake at the moment. Easy with hindsight i suppose but considering how many games he misses each season we really should have bought a striker who plays in similar way. Maybe that's why we went after Remy (though he's been injured himself).

it makes the signing balotelli even worse. We all knew that studge would be injured, so why panic buy on a waste of space striker with no work ethic and who can't play as a lone striker. I mean everyone knew balotelli was going to be useless apart from rodgers. It was hardly hindsight.

It really is the season from hell. We've gone from having the best strike force in the league to the worst. Good job we've got the squad to cope with it tho...

Wow, it's not every day you see muscular injuries that are so persistent and recurring. Usually when a player misses 5-6 months of the season, it's a broken bone or a torn ligament. If Sturridge is THAT injury-prone, even bringing Origi early won't be enough to cover our needs, we would need to buy another striker anyway.

This kind of revision of history in hindsight is exactly why I created this thread.

The signing of Balotelli did seem strange considering how against the idea rodgers was when asked on the tour of America. I suppose he thought the Remy deal would go through at that point. We've got to find a way to score more goals though 'cos with our defence it's the only way were going to pick up points. Mad that Man Utd are above us in the league at the moment considering how many players they have had injured and we've only had 1 major player out.

This is right back to the dark days of Owen being dispatched to Germany to have horse placenta therapy.

@JamesPearceEcho: Hodgson on Sturridge's latest injury setback: "It's really bad news. The only positive with that is we don't play again until March." #LFC

Could someone please run that owlfaced twat over??

Thanks also, Woy, for reducing Raheem to a pathetic shell of the player he was. Excellent persistence.

Yes it's Hodgson's fault that Rodgers has signed a load of fucking shite to play up front, and that Sturridge has amassed this list of injuries in the last 18 odd months:

Shut the fuck up about Hodgson people.

However got Aguero, Falcao and Costa to A. Madrid is the one we should sign.

Our signings got nothing to do with Hodgson denying him an extra day without full training which started this whole mess 10 weeks ago. Injury prone - yes, but thats not the point is it when we're talking about England and how they neglect to follow the fitness plan designed for our players. Its a valid point.

He could have gotten injured after that training session in August regardless but at least we've then taken every precaution neccessary to avoid it.

It makes a bit of a mockery of Rodgers' attempts to blame Hodgson really, doesn't it? The fact is, Sturridge is injury prone, and that's not something that should surprise anyone. It's been the same is entire career and as such, we should have been better prepared for it.

Didn't Sturridge come out and say a few months ago, his injury problems are hereditary, due to his body type...

I say if that's the case then wtf was Rodgers thinking signing ballotelli?

He was trying to channel his inner Luis Suarez to try and catalyze our attack.
