Summer Silly Season 2016

Has anyone linked Grujic signing to Željko Buvač our assistant manager?
Considering that they're both Serbian, I mean I think Buvac has some knowledge about the Serbian league.

I'm also willing to bet that Buvac rates his fellow Serbian Markovic and wants Klopp to give him a chance.

That would be worrying, favouring someone based on their ethnicity or birthplace. Because Markovic has shown precisely NOTHING to suggest he will ever be a good player

He's Serbia's golden boy, I think he's gonna get a chance. Klopp even said it.
Something about lacking wingers

Really hope he has picked up some skills other than his "kick the ball forward, run and hope" repertoire.

Strange that for some the only way you can have shown that "you're any good" is if you have played well in the Premier league.

Markovic was very good for Benfica and is clearly talented. We overpaid of course but that happens. To write him off at the age of 21 is just stupid. He also showed a lot of promise for us imho, but was played quite a bit out of position.
It was also his first season.

If Klopp doesnt think he can be of use then we should obviously sell him. But I think he might be given a chance.

Depends how he gets on when he comes back, but I reckon he will be brought back so Klopp can take a look at the guy for himself.

Like @dmishra, I've been wanting us to look at getting more of a playmaker type for a few years now. It feels like we've been missing a bit of class and control in the middle of the park with us running around like headless chickens too often.

That said, perhaps under Klopp, the lack of such a player will be mitigated by focusing more on quick transition between the phases or whatever the correct terminology is.

Zielinski looks like a player that can help in that respect. Currently we don't really have anyone in the team who is comfortable running with the ball into the oppositions half bar Coutinho. When he's unavailable, it can often all be a bit slow, predictable and reliant on a perfect combination of defence splitting passes.

It's easier to transition quickly when you've got more players who are natural with the ball at their feet. Allen is technically capable and hardworking but perhaps this is the reason he misses out.

So we've signed:
Matip, CB
Grujic, CM

We're getting the following back:
Markovic, LW / RW

We could be signing:
Karius, GK
Götze, LW, AM, RW
Zielinsky, AM

What else do we need?
DM? Will Lucas stay and be a squad player?

LB? Is Smith good enough to be back up for Moreno?

CB? Will Touré stay? Will Gomez be good enough? Will Sakho be sold?

Lucas may stay - but I don't think he'll be our primary DM backup.
Smith will back up our new LB, if not - then he's out.
Skittles will go ... If Sakho is released/sold, Toure will stay.

I doubt that we will be able to sell Sakho if he get a long ban. The ban will be world wide and not only in Europe.

We will need a strong squad next season if we qualify for the CL. Gegenpressing means that you need to rotate a lot. We are also getting Alberto back and Klopp seems to rate him highly.

Sakho is an enigma. There were questions being asked about his future before the whole diet pill thing. We still don't know how long he'll be suspended, but I have a feeling that his future in the team will depend on UEFA or FIFA's ruling.
Personally I think he should be sold. I just don't think he's good enough.

Klopp rates Alberto? Where did you read that?

Moreno should be a back up to a better LB

Skrtel will likely go in the summer also so I'd expect us to sign another Centre back.

Gomez and ings coming back after long term injury will be good to see also both did well before their injuries

I think Sakho got desperate because he wanted to play in the Euro2016. He gambled and started to use the drug. IMO he will be suspended for two years.

Anyway....with Matip signing, Skrtel leaving, Sakho suspended and Gomez returning we'll have:
Lovren, Matip, Gomez and Touré available for next season.
If that's the case we really need another top CB.
Another option would be Lucas in the CB spot, but I'm pretty sure that he's just a makeshift CB.

Desperate to play in Euro 2016?
He was a shoe in. He would have possibly even started. So no, the only reason he did it is because he was lazy and looked for a short cut. Just like any other average Joe hitting the gym does.

I think that Klopp will use Lucas both as a backup DM and CB next season.

I don't think that's fair really. He is stupid for not vetting the supplement before using it. But to call him lazy is ridiculous - our players should be looking for every edge within the rules to get ahead. Problem is he was too stupid to make sure it was in the rules.

Well that's another way to see it.

Lallana has responded to the Spurs rumours with a pretty robust denial

"It was only last season that people might have read I was leaving and thought, 'Yes, let's get him out.' But football changes very quickly and I'm really enjoying my football under this manager.

I have always had a good relationship with Pochettino. I am delighted he has had a very good season and I wanted him to win the league. But it is going to be very difficult [to leave Liverpool]. I am at a massive club here and playing some of my best football for the club, getting to cup finals; it is definitely just speculation."
