Swansea v Liverpool Match Thread

Look, you have to feel for Klopp. We've played some 60 games this season - the squad has been riddled with injuries all season.

We've just lost Can, Henderson, Sakho and Origi at a crucial point of the season - right when we seemed to be on the verge of achieving something.

It's not even been 48 hours since the squad came back from Spain - there are only three senior CMs in the squad. Only three senior CBs. One fit striker, and two just coming back from injury.

It's a terrible situation for a manager - so let's lay off him for a bit.

We about to end the season mid table.

After changing managers in October, that's a poor return, though a cup win away from glory

Not bad effort from Couthino

And that, right there, is why I still hate the Europa League. Even despite us being two wins away from winning the thing, I still hate it.

Yep. No real complaints for the starting eleven with the exception of Chiveralla who doesn't look ready. We have our game of the season coming up in 4 days. What else are people expecting?

We are where we are in the league for a reason; not enough quality players in the squad, and a total lack of ability to keep clean sheets. Some terrible injuries and awful team selections have not helped.

All our eggs in one basket. We're gonna look really fucking stupid if we bow out on Thursday.

A lot more than this fucking shit. Benteke and Lallana coming on at halftime, to rectify the awful starting XI mistake that Klopp made. Again.

I'm slightly worried about Coutinho he looks sloppy and unfit, possibly still recovering from illness

That's hardly been by design. It's only been about 2 weeks since we gave up on the league.

That's only the logical thing to do to keep players fresh for the Europa.

But effectively we could go out of the Europa League and fail to qualify for Europe, in a season where we really need to be getting back in it.

It shows this squad really needs beefing up in terms of talented competitors. I want us to win the semi final, and that's going to take probably the most high-intensive performance of the season, so I wouldn't criticise resting most first choice players. As it is, given that we've already lost two first choice midfielders and a striker, the reserve choices are severely limited. So some of the mock-shock and outrage on here, yet again, is too pathetic to bother with. The question now is how much do we want to do damage limitation today and how much do we concentrate on Thursday? If we get through on Thursday I'll be able to blank out this horrible game pretty easily, but this has been a sobering insight, for some, into what those who watch the under 21s and under 18s have been saying for a while. We're just not developing players to compete at the highest level - plenty of promising talent there, but no pushing of them to fight and win.

Look on the bright side, without Europe, we'll be in a position to emulate that great season with Brendan that you never stop harping on about.

This.

We have a monumental match on Thursday, this is obviously the right team for today , sure benteke could have some minutes ditto one or two others but I've got no problems with the team selection today. It's men against boys in the middle of the park though which is where we have lost the match , so Lucas is the obvious sub to come to limit further damage

I believe Randall wasn't well and had to go home.
I was joking when I mentioned the norovirus the other day when Countinho was ill, but the city is rife with it & apparently the players have been coming down with it.

Having had all three kids get it consecutively, & very generously share it with two of their nan's, & with me as of last night, I think we're just lucky half the squad haven't got it.

I'm afraid Benteke will come on and show us why he didn't get to start in the first place.

Quite. Everybody will agree that this match doesn't mean very much. I can only think that some of us enjoy getting hysterical and calling all the players shit.

I'm glad Ojo is staying on. I'm interested in him as a player. He seems capable of great skill, but in the first half he was very easily knocked off the ball for a big man.
