The Kop drone and other things missing from modern Anfield.

Seeing the pic of Dr Fun has got me thinking about stuff that has gone forever from the Kop.
The Kop drone used to be amazing. One note from one section, another note from the rest. Deafening and really unnerving. Also use to love the Rangers, Celtic chant and the mock scuffles. That was funny.
Never really enjoyed the half time pissing down the Kop. Especially through the funnelled up programme. And the young scallies with massive pupils when Es first hit in the late 80s all piling in and sitting up on the barriers totally faced was genuinely weird. They were about 12 years old!
Anyone else? (I appreciate this is one for the oldies, but it's good to remember it wasn't always mainly silent dickheads in jester hats).

Finding yourself surging down the steps when a goal or near miss took place and then the weird time void as you moved back into place.

Everyone looking about them accusingly as someone let go a real eggy fart.

Thinking about going for a drink or some food near half time and then thinking 'fuck it' I'll never get back to my mates.

The cost to get in when I was 14. I miss that.

Indeed. I remember going up when Rushie equalled Dixie Dean's derby record in '87. Kop ticket was around £3. I got one off a tout outside the Arkles for all the money I had on me. £13.20. Worth every penny.

Kop was ace that day.

Yeah, the surge was crazy. The amount of distance you had covered when you looked back up never seemed possible.

I like that if you were stood by a prick spouting shite you could just move away so you couldn't hear him. Nowadays you're stuck listening to some moron give you his views on the game. Some lad that intermittently sits behind me, is like a fucking co commentator except he's only talking to himself.

I miss being able to stand with your mates. I don't get the match very often, but the lads I stood with on the Kop from the age of 9 til 18 missing but handful of games together are usually there, spread out across the ground, sitting next to strangers instead of us standing together singing songs.

That right there is the main reason people don't sing at the match now.

£2.20 the first match I went to.
The fact you could stand on the full 24000 capacity Kop in "your spot" and know that the same faces would be around you every week.
I once went onto the Kop when there was no match & it was empty, and it was impossible to accurately locate "my spot" without the faces in the crowd to navigate by.
The only problem was "my spot" was about 2/3 of the way up & to the right of the Kop goal (when viewing from pitch), which was right in the middle of where the blues would congregate for derbies, so I had to find an alternative spot once or twice a season.

I just miss the noise... Beautiful it was... If they can't do safe standing areas then they should at least stop playing YNWA on the tannoy... The Kop can sing it without being drowned out then.

£2.60. I was there!
The Kop was Rocking!

Standing on a milk crate my Dad used to take for me so I could see. I remember being tired at the end of the first half one game against Ipswich (probably would have been 6 or 7 at the time) and sitting down only to miss a goal. Same thing happened in the second half and game finished 1-1.
