14-16 points has to be the minimum target and if we achieve it, we'll be top 5 and back in the mix for a CL place.

Heh. It's been ages since we had a good "Next X games" thread. It's even got the "if we get Y points we'll be right in the mix" element.

Don't do it to yourselves guys.

Yep exactly this. Plus, don't forget the whole "wait until player x is back" to add to it.

To answer the question, we'll get about 9 points from that.

On paper winnable..

Villa and Swansea probably the tricky ones

Never. West Ham the trickiest of the lot. If Sturridge is back then we can do them as well. I certainly hope so - don't fancy hearing Fat Sam crowing about his "great tactical nous" again.

It's a sign of my increasing confidence. Believe Keni, believe.

Who or what was the 'Never' directed at Wiz ?

If we have any intentions of top four, we must win them all.
I'm not sure.

The standard in the league this season is gash. It's fucking awful in fact.

I think we'll end up there or thereabouts come the end of the season regardless how far of we are now, I see nowhere near enough consistency from other teams to stop that happening.

Agreed. A CL spot is still by no means out of reach, not least because of the poverty of the competition. Which may have saved Brendan's job.

You might be right, I'm still worried it's going to creep away from us, hopefully Christmas will be harsh on those with the smaller squads, ie United, Arsenal, Southampton and West Ham.

Well since Fabs has locked the other thread I posted this in I'm going to re-post it here - maybe it's relevant !

Really interesting write-up from Phil Neville here :-

Rodgers was clever because he knew Arsenal like to play with just one holding midfielder, in this case Mathieu Flamini. Liverpool capitalised by having Adam Lallana and Philippe Coutinho come in from wide and sit either side of Flamini, so he did not know who to pick up.

Since Sterling was pushed up front for the first time in Liverpool's defeat by Manchester United last weekend they have looked a far greater threat and much more like the team they were last season. Regardless of the problems in other areas of their team, getting that sort of intensity back in their attack on a regular basis is the key to a successful second half of the season. Once they have Daniel Sturridge back fit, it will make a massive difference, but using Sterling in this way means they are definitely heading in the right direction.

We need to build some consistency though, we've only won two in a row twice this season, and never more than that. February is going to be a tough month, so we really need to be getting at least 13 points from these games to get ourselves back in the mix before then.

This threads are always based on the idea that we are a Liverpool side of 30 years ago, who will sweep aside cannon fodder without breaking sweat.

After drawing the first match we'll blame a bit of bad luck, but take confidence from the fact our 16 point target is still achievable.

After losing the second game due to a defensive fuck up full on melt-down will ensue and the thread will disappear of the first page the day later.

1 Month later it will be bumped up by a 'Lol' whilst we sit in 9th place in the league.

Well you're a happy bunny this morning aren't you?

Considering our performance yesterday was much improved I'm a little befuddled by many people's attitudes at the moment.

I can only put it down to a comedown from last season & stress on the run up to Christmas.

Plus you're all miserable cunts, obv.

We're 9 points off 4th. I think if we win all 6 games that will take us into the top 6. If we want to have any chance of making top 4 winning the next 6 games is imperative.

I think that well worn phrase "take it one game at a time" is due a run out.

Just be ready and don't let energy or passion go missing.

Just cause so many posters are saying it can someone please explain to me the criteria by which we know that the current standard of the league is pathetic?
