I think Borini is going to be given a chance as squad player upfront. I'd transfer Johnson and get in couple of fullbacks on his wages. A goal scoring midfielder would be great

Isn't labelling Alberto crap a bit harsh?

Seems like he's hardly played, but when he has done he's been okay, no?

He played a huge role in creating two goals for us against Spurs early on in the season, and has generally looked positive otherwise.

But you forget that most football fans are reactionary idiots who have no patience for player growth and development.

The current league winners spent more than this and look like finishing in 7th. Frankly I am worried.

This is my worry. BR has done wonders with the team. But his transfers have been hit and miss for me...

All manager's transfers are hit and miss. For every Reina there is an Itandje. for every Van Nistelhorse there is a Djemba Djemba. For every Henry there is a Reyes. For every Carroll there is a Suarez. For every Downing there is a Henderson. For every Fellaini there is a Fellaini. For every Joe Cole there is a Gary Mac. Etc etc.
Rodgers has given us Coutinho, Mingolet (not convinced myself but he is the keeper with the team at the top of the table with three games to go), Sturridge, and Sakho. He's also able to do what a lot of coaches are unable to do – turn good players into world beaters.

Nooo. They really haven't. TBH this opinion bugs the hell out of me.

Nobody in football realistically expects a 100% success rate, or anywhere near it - not even Real Madrid or Barca achieve that buying the world's best players. BR is well well up there with the best in PL as far as quality of player and value for money is concerned. Don't believe me ? Look at the PL table.

Yeh let's look at the table and while were at it let's look at how many of his signings have played regularly in that team. And how many haven't.
Ming is far from confidence inspiring. Sturridge and Coutinho are class however. So that's three at a push.

With the exception of Sakho, I'd go along with that. Maybe it'll take him time to settle, but for that money I'd expect more.

There's loads of links with Marshall to provide competition for Ming. I think that's a very good move. Brad is a nice guy, but he isn't providing any sort of competition for Ming. Marshall has been terrific this season.

I think Sakho will become boss for us. But then I thought Le Tallec would become one of the world's best.

There's no way we'll be selling half of the players y'all think we will. We have a paper thin squad as it is, and we're heading into the Champions League.

I'd say only 1 or 2 of the players listed in this thread will go (aside from all the usual kids etc), and we'll add 6-8 new players.

Aren't teams also going to be receiving a huge increase in local TV revenue starting at the end of this season?

Also, what's the prize money for coming 3rd/2nd/1st this year?

That is, quite frankly, a ridiculous and myopic statement.

Sturridge, Coutinho, Ming, Allen, Toure and Sakho have all made strong contributions to our league position. You can't ignore them just because they don't ring your bell. So yeah, top of the table and likely Champions with most of his signings making important contributions and with the jury still out on Alberto, Borini and Ilori (who were, as stated at the time, all bought with the future in mind), so maybe two 'failures' at most.

A damn fine batting average in itself but when you consider what he picked up Sturridge and Coutinho for (mainstays of our team who must have tripled or quadrupled in value) then that is a brilliant transfer record ... not as you would have it 'Hit or Miss'.

Borini, Assaidi, Reina, Coates will be sold.
Moses and Cissokho will return to their clubs.

We wont be selling loads of players from the current squad though.
Dont think Johnson will be sold. Maybe Agger will stay aswell.

Hope we use our power of champions to league footy to add 1/2 players of top players and not make same mistake of of spurs.

chill your bean dude, it's hardly myopic and ridiculous because you don't agree with it. How many games has Allen even played thus season, or sakho for that matter. And wh er nog they have played they haven't exactly been stellar every time have they? Of course they bloody haven't. Your point was that the league table is proof that his signings have been great. It's a poor argument and carries no weight or logic unless that league position is mainly dependant upon his signings. Which it isn't. Sturridge absolutely. Coutinho has serious talent and has slo we lying started to catch some of his initial form.
But if you're seriously trying to tell me that sakho and Allen are the reason we are up there you are having a laugh. Let's go by your 'logic' though and play the game properly. Line up his signings and tell me how many of them have really made a big contribution to putting us where we are as opposed to sterling, skittles, Luis, Gerrard, Henderson etc etc.
If sakho were injured or Allen, I don't see people panicking the way they would I'd it were skittles or Luis.
Ming isn't bad. But that's about it from him for now. He has had plenty of average to poor performances and we leak goals for fun.
again, I can't see the logic in saying that because we are top of the league, it's all thanks to borini, as pas, Alberto, ming, Allen and sakho et Al. Maybe I just can't work it out so explain the logic in that statement another way please...

Oh and by the way, if you apply the same logic, United's poor position is all because or Fellaini and Mata. Doubt it....

The return of Suso, Borini, Ilori, Wisdom, Robinson, Ibe and McGlaughlin will improve our squad depth and potentially give us some real quality in the vein of Sterling. Also I expect Texiera, Brad Smith, Alberto (if he's not sold) to emerge as real talents as well. Add in the potential signings of Kono, a midfielder, another forward potentially and a senior left back (I think Enrique will be sold) and we'll have one of the most exciting and young teams in Europe next year. I think Suso, Ilori, Ibe, Texiera, Brad Smith (he's much better as a left back than a winger where he was played against Chelsea unfairly), and McGlaughlin in particular have the goods to start impressing next year if given the chance.

I'd go along with all of that.

It's McLaughlin by the way.
