So last gasp win for Arsenal keeps them firmly in the hunt.

They are more than capable of winning their last 6 however Spurs can hopefully beat them.

Utd City is huge tomorrow night.

We really need a City win in this game to put pressure back on Utd.

Then we have Utd vs Arsenal in a couple of weeks which will ensure at least one drops points but ideally Arsenal win it or we have a draw if they lose to Spurs before then.

Then Utd go to Spurs which will hopefully end their top 4 hopes.

It may not go to the wire at all if results go our way in the next 2 weeks.

We're gonna screw it all up against Watford anyway as they'll bully our nice team all over the park, defend effectively and score from a couple of corners. There's a race for fourth, but a few weeks from now, we will be out of it.
Pisses me off as I really thought after our great start to the season that things were gonna finally change. Can't remember the last time we put together a string of decent performances. Actually, I can, and it was in 2016.

Still stand by my view that the top 3 are done; Chelsea, Spurs, City.

Leaves 4th. I don't think Arsenal can do it. They've got to win every game, 2 of which are against Spurs and United.

So it's us and United. United play City, Spurs and Arsenal, along with 3 other mid-lower table sides.

If we take 10, maybe even 9, points from our last 4 games then I reckon we get 4th.

Actually looking at what 'should' happen fixture wise from Utd and Arsenal then as little as 7 or 8 pts could get us 4th.

Utd drop 8 points finish on 73pt
Arse drop 5 points finish on 73pts

Beating Watford next Monday will put us in a very strong position.

If United lose tonight, and we beat Watford - then you might see United focus all their efforts on winning the Europa League as a direct pathway into the CL.

They're without Ibra, Pogba, Mata, Smalling, Rojo and Jones right now, so they're bare bones. He can't play the same 11 every week, so if he has to prioritise then he might sway towards the Europa if he thinks 4th is too hard.

Just a theory.

Re Arsenal; I'm not having it.

They're 6 points behind us, and sure they've got 2 games in hand but their run-in is almost impossible.

They've got to go to Spurs who are better than them, and Stoke who always beat them. Then at home they've got United who they won't beat, and Everton last game who'll be fighting for last EL place.

Everton are pretty much guaranteed EL spot now. 14 ahead of WBA with 15 to play for. Leicester losing in CL confirms 7th get EL spot.

I think 5th or 6th is guaranteed unless we lose all 4 remaining games.

4th is still ours to muck up.

I'm glad Lallana will be back. We need him. Midfield is still the worry and Milner is looking mentally tired. I'd move Clyne to LB and use AA at RB.

We should still get 4th but we've blown 3rd. Maybe coming back for pre-season a month early will be a good thing to integrate what is bound to be a raft of new players.

Arsenal and United are still going to drop plenty of points and United have a horrendous run of Celta- Arsenal - Celta - Spurs all within 11 days. That will hopefully fuck up both their EL and PL chances.

This is the correct answer.

Everton & Palace have their work done for the season, so don't expect any favours from that shower of cunts, on the last day of the season, against Arsenal and utd respectively.

Utd have Swansea Sunday who also need points. Even if they lose tonight a win Sunday will see them move level with is

That Utd win against Chelsea put a lot of doubt in my mind.

You just don't want to be in a position where you're relying on other teams to drop a lot of points and now we are, which is more than a little frustrating given the opposition we've faced and the winning positions we've gotten ourselves into.

I doubt Utd and Arsenal will get maximum points but then I have zero faith in us doing what we have to for obvious reasons... so it's basically a toss up.

I'm hoping for a draw tonight, just because then City can only go two points ahead of us, and it makes them nervous, but also it means United can only go a point ahead of us, and they have some difficult games to come. I still believe 3 wins and a draw will have us there safely, but i'll be much happier when the other teams drop points in the game they're supposed to drop points from.

Nah, City win today. They have the easier run in and will most likely finish 3rd.
We need to create some distance between ourselves and Utd.

It's on Monday night, our record is abysmal on Monday nights.

I think if we plotted a chart of Liverpool's actual results vs SCM expectations, we will see an inverse relationship. So this outpouring of pessimism here now is rather encouraging.

Yup. The minute I see someone post a next 8 games are against ....., We should easily get 21 out of 24 points, I know we are loosing that weekend followed by an injury to Coutinho, Mane, and someone else.

A defeat or draw won't make too much of a difference between us and United, however a win pretty much wraps it up for City. I'd rather us be one of four teams competing for two places as opposed to one of three competing for one. City should still be fine even if they draw tonight, sure, but their form hasn't been great, so you never know, I'd rather they remained in the equation.
