The whole Ched Evans thing

Has anyone here bothered to go to the Ched Evans site (or whatever it's called) and read the statements and watch the hotel video of this girl who was supposedly so drunk she couldn't walk and thereby unable to give consent ?

If we go by just those alone it is a totally unsafe conviction. The girl gets out of the taxi and walks into the hotel .. unaided, she forgets she put a bottle of plonk (or her bag or something) down on the pavement by the taxi and walks back out, alone, picks it up and then goes back into the hotel .. all the time walking in a ruler-straight line.

This Ched Evans may be a perv and a right cunt, but I'm not at all sure about the conviction. It stinks to be honest.

I'll add it to my list of concerns. It'll be on page 307, just below my qualms over the drafting of the 1867 Reform Act.

Maybe she went on to consume the bottle she picked up, thereby altering her state of sobriety ...

Yep, that's where I was going with my original post, the cynic in me wonders if the court saw a perfect opportunity to make an "example" of a high(ish) profile name.

He has already been denied a review. He has applied for another one but I don't think it is even going to be considered until 2017. It is not as though he is going through the legal process and should be considered innocent until it is all over. It seems more like he is throwing cash at lawyers to get his career back on track.

I thought he was having one currently? My bad. Anyway, I do consider him guilty, just the case sounded a little odd.

He hasn't admitted his guilt, and there is a video of the alleged victim earlier in the evening not comatose

Stands to reason - he's been set up

PS i'm being sarcastic

I don't think anyone thinks Sheffield Utd shouldn't be able to hire him. I don't think anyone thinks the 'stakeholders' (hate that term) shouldn't be able to agitate for him not to be employed by the organisation they're interested in.

I think on balance the people campaigning for him not to come back are right. I don't think it amounts to a witch hunt or anything like it. I think it's more reasonable to act on the facts as currently understood than as they might be after his appeal, and right now he's a convicted rapist, and it seems to me that it'd be wrong for him to go back to doing such a prominent and influential job.

I think that's a fair part of his punishment by society, and only the same as most successful people would suffer on being convicted of a serious crime.

He was released from prison on 17 October 2014.[25] Following his release, the Criminal Cases Review Commission announced that they were fast-tracking a review into his conviction.[26]

Here is the video btw:

Now, I havent read everything related to the trial but seeing as he's been found guilty its understandable why Ennis and the sponsors react. Will be interesting to see what the outcome of the review is.

Not sure what the point of blurring her out is. I'm sure she wasn't on the video on the Ched Evans site that I originally saw that on (and on there it's the full-length tape including taxi arriving etc. etc.).

I'd really like to see a timeline. However read for yourselves if you have a mind to, there's a lot of interesting information on the home page alone :

Lets be honest though the only reason why hes not back in football is because hes an average at best footballer. If it was any TOP player there is no way the club would let him go like that. If they did there would ve a number of clubs who would hire him. All this moral high ground is bullshit.

I tend to agree with the last bit, but Sheffield Utd.definitely did want him back. They've only cut him loose again because they decided they would lose more than they gained if they stood their ground on the issue.

Errr . . . all this "if he did another job he'd come out and everything would be the same" - loads of people come out of prison and then find it difficult getting a job because of their record, so . . . ?

Anything with a crb and you're up slack alley

If Ched Evans wants to save his career he should leave the country.
I was thinking the MLS, but they'll never let him in when he has that on his record.

Thats generally because people don't want to hire them. Whereas clubs would have no problem hiring Evans, its the media shit storm they don't want.

He will be worth the hassle to somebody though. He might drop down a division but he will certainly find a club willing to 'prove hes paid his debt to society'

His name is Ched.

Fucking Ched.

Ched.

I can't stop typing it. He deserved to go to jail simply for being called Ched.
