Transfer Rumours

Sky Sports News are reporting that Southampton have insisted Liverpool have not recently made an offer for defender Dejan Lovren.

@BVBfansFF: Klopp when confronted with the Hummels rumours: "did they also say €20m?" *laughs* "when papers mention such numbers you know it's garbage."

Hummels and Reus not leaving

New signing Alvaro Morata has suffered an early setback in his Juventus career after sustaining a knee injury in training.

Guys, Reus and Hummels are going nowhere. If they can let Lewa go for free, they can can hold on to Hummels and Reus too. They are financially stable and they dont want to have that image of a selling club in germany. You have to probably offer Suarez-isque money to get him and then also Reus must agree to come to us. This summer it is almost impossible.

Why??? Good player but that's hardly a weak position.

RB isn't a weak position ? He's 20 yrs old and has played for the Spanish national team at every level (thanks Wiki). I'm guessing this would be a loan with a buy option in which case he could step up to understudy Flanno for the 2015/16 season and provide depth this coming season.

Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale & James Rodríguez will have cost Real Madrid around €265M.

More than what Ajax have spent on transfers (€232M) since their founding in 1900.

It does seem odd though, in the sense that he's a young player who hasn't had much experience at the senior level. We already have a guy like that in McLaughlin. Unless he's a lot better than McLaughlin, why not just give McLaughlin the chance instead?

Manquillo could be a shrewd piece of business. Low cost and low risk. An encouraging little clip of him.

There's nothing to lose really with his signing. If he makes it, great we have a player on our hands. He also pushes someone like McLaughlin to work harder. Whoever ends up staying is the better player for it.

I think the concept of challenging players by adding more players is sometimes taken a bit too far. McLaughlin already has Johnson and Flanagan in front of him to contend with. If that's not enough, possibly Kelly too. Why bring in another loan player to add yet one more obstacle? Besides, as I've said in the past - a player that needs another player to give him a kick up the backside to work harder, isn't a good player IMO. The best players like Gerrard and Suarez, etc. are at the top because they're just personally committed to excellence. But I digress.

Now to be fair, I haven't seen Manquillo before, so perhaps he's actually a very good player who deserves to be ahead of McLaughlin. Although it does then prompt me to ask why Atletico Madrid would even offer him as makeweight for Moreno as was rumoured previously.

Or maybe Rodgers just doesn't rate McLaughlin, which is fair enough, he sees him in training every week and knows better.

Yeah, I get the impression McLaughlin isn't rated by the gaffer. You'd think a lad with McLaughlin's raw ability (speed, dribbling) would be better appreciated by someone like Rodgers.

That "recently" is a weasel word though. Even if this is true, it might only mean that we haven't made an offer in the past couple of days.

Sounds like Southampton are trying to pressure us into getting the deal done, either that or there is genuine interest from Chelsea, so of course, SSN are trying to stick their oar in.
