Transfer Rumours

Every time I've seen Mangala (admittedly three or four times) he's been absolutely terrible.

Liverpool continue to work on new signings and reports in Wales claim there has been contact with Swansea City regarding a deal for Wayne Routledge. The 29-year-old former Spurs and Newcastle wide man has previously been linked with Liverpool in 2011 and Swansea City reportedly want around £5m for him.

NO - don't post this kind of shit please.

The Mangala stuff baffles me aswell. Our own fans find it difficult to agree on how good Sakho is, but are terrified by a player he kept out of the national side. The 4th choice Cb aswell.

It feels like the media are starting to take the piss out of us.

We've seen links from Reus/Vidal/Di Maria and then Routledge.

Hopefully the latter is as unlikely as the former.

In fairness, pecking order in the international setup isn't the most accurate indicator of players quality. Just look at Brazil.

I hope not, I don't want to sign Routledge.

Just be lucky you're not a United fan then !

Either would be a great signing for ye

Thought Vidal would have been perfect for us but seeing Herrera this morning I think LVG may go for a more defensive CM such as Strootman to play alongside him.

Roma boss Rudi Garcia has dismissed any suggestion Kevin Strootman could leave the club this summer, saying: "Strootman is a Roma player and will stay with us this season."

Liverpool FC could be in for £35.6m Benfica winger Nicolas Gaitan, according to the Metro .
The Argentinian winger has a release clause in his contract with the Portugese champions and has impressed while helping Benfica reach successive Europa League finals and also win the Primeira League last season.

Meanwhile Brendan Rodgers is reported to have made a £14.2m bid for Bayern Munich playmaker Xherdan Shaqiri, claims Swiss paper Blick .
The 22-year-old performed well at the World Cup, bagging a hat-trick for Switzerland in the group stages, but struggled for regular game time with the Bundesliga champions last season.

The chances of Arturo Vidal moving to Anfield have receded though with Juventus now expecting to keep hold of the Chile midfielder.
The Express reports that Juventus chief Beppe Marotta thinks it very unlikely the 27-year-old will leave Turin.

He said when asked if he would be surprised if Vidal left: “Absolutely yes. It is a very remote chance, considering what the lad is like, and so I’m not even considering the possibility.“The situation around him is typical of the transfer market when several big clubs admire him. Vidal exploded in a fairly unexpected way over the last two years to become one of the most important players in the world. “He is naturally linked to big clubs, but I’ll point out Juventus are a big club too and we intend to hold on tight. I don’t get the sensation he wants to leave us.”

Gaitan is good, but not 36M good.

Sounds like paper talk to me.

Would be nice if we went back in for Shaqiri though, but I'm not certain if he'll get the minutes. Might force Suso/Ibe/Peterson out on loan.

Like that would be a loss if we signed Shaqiri ! Sign him FFS BR !

Liverpool FC goalkeeper Pepe Reina says he is 'here to stay' - but admitted a desire to finish his career in his native Spain.
Uncertainty over the 31-year-old's Anfield future persists after Napoli, who are interested in a permanent deal, refused to meet the £3.95million release clause in his contract.

The Reds expect negotiations regarding the Spanish stopper's future to drag on until transfer deadline day in late August.
Although a relatively low fee for a keeper of his calibre a salary of around £100,000 a week appears to have put off any potential suitors.

Napoli feel a compromise will eventually be reached, but it won’t be soon as Liverpool will invite other offers for the goalkeeper.
-------------

Sell him. Saving £5m in wages plus perhaps a £2.5m fee is better than keeping him here. Should have sold him 2-3 years ago.
