I'm not putting a 'None of Them' option. Even if none prove value for money, one will be closest.

I think Lovren will be ok. It's still really early days for a totally new back 4 to knit, plus Mignolet doesn't inspire confidence and Gerrard provides no cover in front.

Markovic is 20. Look at how Henderson has blossomed.

Balotelli will be gone if he fails to gel with Sturridge. If that front 2 doesn't work then there is no case for him staying.

I like the positivity. There are definitely some confidence issues in the squad at the moment, Hopefully with the return of Sturridge and additional time to get used to each other, things will get better for all 3.

Lovren for me. He had already proven before we signed him that he's well up to the demands of the Prem, so it seems clear to me that his form must be at least partly down to problems with the defence (and with the coaching they're getting) as a whole. I was excited by the Markovic signing but it's looking like a toss-up whether or not he'll accustom himself to the power and pace of English football. Balotelli has the talent but I don't have faith that he'll grow up enough to make it count.

Tough call but I went for Lovren. I think he's going to be excellent for us and (I know I'm in a small minority on this one) I don't see our defence as too much of problem. If our defence had a keeper they could trust and a good DM'er in front of them they'd flourish.

Markovic, I'm not surprised by the Henderson comparison. I always defended henderson because I knew there was a very good player in there somewhere. I based that opinion on ONE GAME; the one when Sunderland won 0-3 at Stamford Bridge and a 21 year old Henderson bossed the game and dominated Essien (who was at his peak) and Lampard. I knew that anyone who could do that must have some ability and hopefully it would be a matter of time before he flourished at Anfield. My hopes for Markovic are also based on one game; I saw him play for Serbia against Brazil in a pre-World Cup friendly and he was very good. Unlike the LFC-Markovic, the Serbia-Markovic seemed full of confidence and took players on, made great runs and always wanted the ball. I'm hoping we see the Serbia-Markovic before long although it could take a while for him to settle as he's very young and seems totally overawed. Maybe next season we'll start to see why the Benfica fans rate him so highly.

Balotelli, I haven't given up hope on him, it's obviously not his ability that's in question. I doubt he'll ever wise-up and think of anyone other than Mario but while he's our player we can hope that Brodgers can get it thru his thick skull that he really is in the "last chance saloon" and he needs to put all that ability to use for the benefit of the TEAM. In the unlikely event that Brodgers gets the best outta Balotelli then he'll prove to be the "best value for money" by a mile.

Lovren and only Lovren. Balotelli will be gone in one of the next two windows and I've already made my view of Markovic known.

I think Lovren was easily the most overpriced of the three, so I think he's got the furthest to travel.

But all 3 of them are performing below expectations. I went Markovic because his was the soundest valuation, based on his age and potential. Transfers like that usually prove wise sooner or later.

I went with Balotelli, so looks like I'm the big sucker in here. :D

I think the evaluation of Lovren is going to be affected by how the defence performs as a whole, so even if he's outstanding, the ratings will likely get dragged down if the keeper and centreback partner are not up to par. Given the unreliability / inconsistency of the keeper and CB partners right now, he's starting a few steps behind already. That's not to say they're dragging him down right now by the way - he's been pretty unreliable himself.

For someone like Balotelli, he can probably get by with, say, scoring 10 to 12 goals in the first season, and look to build from there. While our attacking game is still struggling somewhat right now, I think we're slowly improving. And in Sturridge, Coutinho, Sterling and Lallana, Balotelli already has an advantage in having a better cast working for and around him. How he does from here now is largely dependent on his own maturity. I think he might eventually get it when we're in better form and there's less attention / pressure on him. Big assumption, perhaps more out of hope than belief.

I'm not quite sure where to put Markovic at the moment, as I haven't seen enough of him to decide. He shows flashes that suggest that he's got the right ideas, but the execution doesn't always match up, and he hasn't shown enough ambition on the pitch right now. Reminds me a bit of how I felt about Henderson in his first season. Like Balotelli, he has a good setup around him to help him prosper. However, there's good competition for places there (and it'll get tougher with Ibe returning next season) and it's no guarantee that he'll beat the competition and get the minutes he needs.

None of them have impressed so far, so I'll pick Lazar as he's the youngest and I still have no idea what his attributes are. I presume he has some decent attributes which he just hasn't shown yet....

Why does the poll only include three of the new signings?

I take it they're deemed the highly questionable ones so far? I think Lallana should be in there too.
