World Cup day 6.

I thought we could've done away with 3 at the back in the second half. It was pretty much attack vs defence and Maguire isn't really the player you want starting your attacks deep in the opposition half.

We face 1/2nd place of today's group right? Not sure who to face
Tough. Poland, Colombia or Senegal (I strongly doubt Japan can qualify).

Let's first assume we beat Panama, not a foregone conclusion at this WC but based on the first two games we must be strongly odds on).

All those three are capable of progressing to the quarters. But I'd choose (in order) ; Poland, Colombia and finally Senegal.

I quite like Maguire. He was wobbly as anything at the start, but he's a decent passer and has bottle.

Stones has a similar mindset and I do worry that both seem likely to take one too many risks, but unlike Stones, Maguire also seems to relish the more agricultural aspects of defending. But Stones, Walker and Maguire in a back three is just asking for trouble.

It was a very odd system.

Henderson was on his own in the middle of the pitch for most of the game, Loftus Cheek helped to balance the side when he came on.

I didn't get the role Dele Alli was supposed to be in, Sterling and Lingard seemed to have the freedom to go where they liked. And i'm not sure what the point of Ashley Young was.

It was a bit baffling.

Tunisia must be one of the worst sides in the tournament ?

These William Hill scratch of the day things are boss.

Just won my third free bet since the WC started, £10 this time, £2 last time & £5 the first time.

Also won free spins on some game & got £7.

Paddy powers similar shoot out thing has won me £6 through some spins too.

As I'm winning very little through the actual bets I'm placing (accas mostly) it's basically keeping me able to place bets just to make the games more interesting without costing me a penny.

Anyone know any other betting companies doing these type of promos?

Ashley Young was grimly bad. Alli, Lingard and Sterling were all largely ineffectual after the first 25 mins, and Southgate should have changed things much earlier. England obviously deserved to win nonetheless, but my radio is full of some very typical English post victory hyperbole this morning. I always start off a tournament (excepting Uncle Woy) wishing them the best, but it is this shit that causes my bounteous cup of generosity of spirit to evaporate.

Yeah, I can see that from a neutral view. Keep media exposure to a minimum, I reckon.

I'm not a huge fan of Danny Rose, but how that mediocre cunt Ashley Young is playing, I'll never know. And Walker was and is an accident waiting to happen in a back three. Can you imagine that chasm of space against a Coutinho or Hazard? Don't know why Southgate thought it was necessary to bring three right backs.

Dreamy is talking shite though, obviously.

As for Lotus-Cheek, he's a good option, but in the context of the game, he only brought what we would have had from Alli, had he not got a knock and inexplicably stayed on the pitch. Fair play to Henderson for stepping up.

I’ve got a massive £2 from my card today. Manè to score and Senegal to win at 5/1.

Walker has played that role for City too if I remember correctly. I can understand the thinking - a back three is supposed to nullify a counter attacking team. Having Walker's pace in theory makes it a better defence. Maguire and Stones are both decent on the ball as well so they can float forward at appropriate times.

It just seemed that England were lacking a second body in the middle whilst flooding the wide areas. Young, Dele Alli and even Maguire at times on the left. Sterling, Trippier and Walker down the right.

It just felt like you had one too many defenders on the pitch.[/QUOTE]

I wish England the best of luck .... until the knockout stages anyway

Get in!

Japan get a pen & columbia have a man sent off!

Got one acca with a Japan win, one with a draw. This start helps!

Almost 90 mins with ten men is going to really hurt Columbia.

What the defender was thinking is beyond me!

I thought England played well. Especially first half. Good movement, pace, spirits. Should have scored a few before thefirst one as well, but the lack of experience cost them in decisive moments. Midfield, especially Henderson, balanced the team well and didn't give away much. Again the inexperience showed off in defence as they were clumsey in situation they should have full control. Maybe the weak performance of Tunisia made them believe this would be too easy.

But goals are decisive and England failed to score enough in the period they dominated most. This oftens come back and haunt you, as Tuisia found time to regroup a little, and adjust their lines to take away some of the Spaces England had played in early. And England ran out of steam at the same time. The lack of leadership also became visible as the game went on.

All in all a well deserved win, and should take them through. Not sure if this team has the experience required to og far, and I have tipped them to loose the quarter against Germany. But now maybe Mexico occupy that spot.

He was thinking that since that Fucking Norwegian spent his Money on a bet containing a Colombia win instead of Colombian snow he could as well fuck off!!

Columbia could still win this match, ten men & a goal disadvantage or not.

It's a big ask but there's a huge gulf in class between these two sides.

Yeah. But I just picked them to beef up the return on the others I added to the slip (Poland and Egypt). I felt they should easily take this home, and when I have more time later the afternoon the excitement could start. Well well.

Yeah, or too many wide players in general. I thought Alli, Lingard AND Sterling was overload. Unless you can discipline Alli to stay central and help Henderson. Personally I'd play Loftus Cheek in the centre with him and sacrifice Sterling or Lingard.

I thought it was a stronger call for a penalty just prior to the free kick, which seemed to me was just Falcao running into the Japanese player.
