Your line up away to Stoke..

If everyone minus sicknote are fit, then:

.....................Ming
Clyne...Skrtel....Sakho....Gomez
......Hendo...Lucas....Milner
...Firmino...Benteke...Coutinho

5 of your starting 11 will have been with the club less than 2 months and will have played at most one competitive football match together.

That concerns me.

--------------------- Ming
--- Clyne -- Skrtel -- Sakho -- Gomez
-------------- Milner -- Lucas
--- Firmino -- Henderson -- Coutinho
------------------ Bentekky

----------------- Ming
Clyne -- Skrtel -- Sakho -- Moreno
--------- Milner -- Henderson
Ibe ---------- Coutinho ------ Lallana
---------------- Benteke

Replace Moreno with Gomez and we are a go.

That's exactly how we should line up

I think this looks most likely, with Lovren instead of Sakho.
I'd prefer Sakho and Lucas in places of Lovren and Ibe though. Probably Gomez (or just about anyone who can play LB and isn't Enrique) instead of Moreno as well.

I know what you mean but Hughe's Stoke is not like Pulis' Stoke and our defensive minded midfielders are inconsistent performers.

The lack of a DM is alleviated somewhat by the fact everyone in midfield is a hard worker. Whether that's enough to cover the lack of natural defensive discipline and positional awareness, who knows, but we'll be sure to find out over the course of the season. Why not find out early!

It's too much of a gamble for my taste. The first name on the sheet on a cold night in stoke is Lucas imo.

I would go with a 4-5-1 with Milner and Henderson in front and coutinho and Lallana wide and Benteke on top.

Maybe change it to 4-4-2 at halftime if we look decent and secure defensively.

I'll be amazed if firmino starts away to stoke. Likewise I think Couts may not start either. Lallana and ibe to start

Ming

Clyne, Skrtel, Lovern (fuck know why he's ahead of sakho), Gomez

Milner, Henderson,

Ibe, Lallana, Origi

Benteke

Don't agree with that line up one bit, but that's what rogers wil go with I reckon

Is this meant to be serious?

He's not picking that abomination of a team.

Hopefully not as Moreno is fucking crap.

And Gomez is an 18 year old kid with a handful of first team games in a lower league, and no experience of top level football.

Moreno didn't train or play in Brisbane & only came on 2nd half in Adelaide (where he looked as composed as Gomez had).

There's no doubting Gomez looks an excellent prospect - but unless he has fitness issues - Moreno starts as first choice LB.

This is how we'll line up with Clybe, Skrtel, probably Sakho & Moreno at the back.

I expect Firmino to be introduced for Lallana with about 20 mins to go and a more 442 diamond set up to be introduced with Firmino pushed up and Coutinho more Central.

I wouldn't be surprised if Can comes on for the last 10 mins for Coutinho, slots into midfield & either Henderson or Millner get pushed forward - probably Millner.

On that last point, I wouldn't be surprised to see Milner used at the tip of a diamond in away games.

I'd agree with all that, if Moreno was good. The fact is he's a horrible defender with poor positional sense, with an inability to close his man down, not to mention he's very very weak in the tackle and he can't clear his lines. He's fucking shite until he proves otherwise.

This Gomez kid looks a cool customer who wouldn't be fazed by a start in a League game. Yes he's yet to be tested properly but lets see how he does.

Gomez to start vs Stoke. I'm all for it.

Moreno, eh? People could well be describing Gareth Bale just before Redknapp was about to sell him.

Rodgers may disagree with you (post match comments), I do for sure :

Joe Gomez got the nod ahead of Alberto Moreno to feature at left-back in Finland and Rodgers is prepared to play the England youth international there again at the Britannia Stadium next weekend.
"I wouldn't have any issues (with playing him)," he said.
"You've seen from my time here that irrespective of the age of a player, it's about the quality and personality.
"Whether they are 17 or 27, if I think they are ready, I'll play them."

BTW Steve: Gomez played 24 times for Charlton last season, that's hardly a handful.

So Lovren will be starting.

I desperately want this cunt of a manager sacked, but starting that fucking clown has left me teetering on the edge of wanting us to lose to make it happen.

Just unbelievable. Unbelievable.

It would seem that both Benteke and Firmino are behind in their fitness schedule so i'd opt for a stronger midfield, allowing Milner and Henderson to get forward. Clyne, Skrtel, Sakho and Moreno at the back. Lucas holding ( Can is another unlikely to be ready ), Hendo and Milner, then Coutinho. Ings and Origi in attack - Ings pressing, harrying with Origi looking to find space.

A convincing win would be great but even a point would be cathartic
