Looking at it from a purely Irish perspective at the moment my favourite sporting moment of the year was Harrington's second shot on the 17th on the last day of the British Open.

He'd also easily be Ireland sporting hero for 2008.

What were this years best sporting moments for you ?

Shane Williams try v France
Babels Goal v Scum
Xabi's Goal v Chavs
Mike Phillips try v England
Lee Byrne's try v England
Hooks 4 Pens v England
Hooks 2 conversions v England

The tries and goals speak for themselves, but did you see those 6 kicks? They were all simply fantastic.

I'd also like to add to my list the response made to the Haka.

Usain Bolt at the Olympics
Harrington at the Open and Pga
Phelps winning his gold medal haul
That last GP race in Brazil.

Bolt - Olympics 2 WRs
Phelps - Olympics 8 Golds
Adlington - Olympics 2 Golds
Hoy + British Cycling team - Immense
Harrington - Geddin the Hole... ya yanky gits!
E.Manning - Stepping out of the Brothers shadow and is now his peer.

Hamilton - He's bottled it, wait shit, thats GLOCK!! Yes!! World Champion

Any villains ?

Faldo springs to mind for me after his Brent-like speech prior to the Ryder Cup.

Worst ever choice for Ryder Cup captain. I couldn't help laughing when he said he'd consider doing it again. Yeah, right Nicky boy, don't call us, we'll call you.

Villian- Brett Farve, nobody wants to turn on the tv and here the latest news on you retiring or not, and then constant updates on how your sorry new team is doing this year, nobody cares.

Then again I am biased, I really do not like Farve that much.

Me. I'm the only N.Orleans Saints fan you'll ever meet.

That means you are a real fan then.

I do like NFL, though I don't know nearly as much about it as some fellow posters on here. If you wanted an LFC site with NFL fans among its members you've come to the right place.
