Theres no reason Virgil cant adapt his game to be less reliant on pace as he gets older. Plenty of defenders have done it before him

At that point hes playing a different role so its important you have very quick defenders around him as his pacw diminishes. His aerial ability, stength, reading of the gane and his distribution mean he should have a few years at the top.

VVD doesnt rely on pace either, who have you been watching? He reads the game exceptionally well.

He’ll always be a good defender with the reads the game and wins the aerial battle like Sammi, having his turn of pace puts him on another level. Rewatch our away games against Wolves when Traore tried to outrun him and you’ll see what I mean.

Danny Ings is 28, and better and fitter than ever without losing any pace. He’s done both his ACLs.
He is probably the best example of how sports science can get you back these days .

You can’t compare injuries like this to those that happened a decade ago. They surgery is completely different these days.

We’re heading into another 4 month lockdown. So he’ll only miss 2 months of the season.
