At 24 having 6 pints was the Friday post work warm up session before going into town.

At 19 I’d have been a mess.

Rurik, I don’t think that data adds anything. Firstly it’s an average of who? McDonald’s eaters? I can walk best part of a mile in 10 minutes.

Also, data was collected in 2010 and wouldn’t be relevant to a sports person in 2019 who has access to the most up to date science and a strength and fitness coach in hand.

Fair enough, those probably were McDonald's eaters.

If I were a footballer, I'd definitely take my chances with the out of date old school science, I mean it's not even a decision.

I’m not being funny but I have ZERO clue how, the data of the average running speed per MILE, in a 5k race is going to show me that a footballer who spends his time running in short 10-20m bursts is going to get faster after 19 and then slow down after 24?

If you see me run a 50m sprint against my first mile in a 5k, I’ll tell you now that they’re considerably different.

Shut the fuck up and accept the data science.

Is that your approach to your economics data?

Of course. I'm not the smartest person in the world by a long way, but I have a violent obsessive compulsion to always figure out the truth no matter the cost. In economics, the way to get to the truth is my way, and when you get there you know infinitely more than people who are ten times smarter than you and have been researching it for ten times as long. Do you share your insight with them? No, of course not. You laugh at the hapless fools, they deserve no better for their reckless disregard of truth and scientific integrity.

Interesting temporary improvement for men aged 40-44 and women aged 35-39 ... I can only assume that mid life crises lead to a small upturn in physical fitness

Or those that do not actually like running have dropped out because it is just not worth it any more.

So, what is left is the more motivated folk who then gradually decline as they always have.

But, it is still remarkable that the difference between the 20 year olds and the 60 year olds is actually not that great over 5K - a sprint would be a different story. And I reckon 10k would also be different in further narrowing the distance.

I'm as excited as everyone else but I'd love to see him play against better opposition and with some senior players around him.

He's got an awful knack of being in the right place at the right time hasn't he?

Is he just a striker then, or is he a wing option too? He'd get much more play time if he was, and we do need cover out on the wings.

Could have sworn I read somewhere he played all across the front line, but that's probably someone saying that because he looks a bit like Raheem Sterling.

Seems more suited to going through the middle to me. Nice to see Kent getting time in the wings, wouldn’t be surprised if he is close to the first team next season.

Brewster on why he almost left:

“A couple of years ago I was looking at the pathway into the Liverpool team and I thinking, ‘it is just going to be the same here as it was at Chelsea’,” he explains. “At the time there was Dom Solanke, Daniel Sturridge, Divock Origi and Danny Ings still here, all ahead of me. I was never thinking about getting more money, just realistically assessing the situation.

“You have the front three and then five or six senior strikers ahead of you so I thought a lot about it and spoke to my family and Leon [Anderson] my agent.
“Then things changed a bit. When I spoke to the manager he said, ‘You are going to be a top striker at this club. Not next season, but the season after you will be in my plans’. Then a few strikers moved out on loan.

“The manager kept that promise. I knew he was not chatting rubbish to me. That is why I chose to stay with the club because they showed the faith in me and believed in me. Now I am going to get the chance, it really is up to me to take it. When I look at where I am now I feel I made the right choice. Jurgen Klopp gives kids a chance.”
