A Norwich player is set to miss the restart of the Premier League season after testing positive for coronavirus.

The unnamed player was one of two positive results from the 1,200 checks across the division on Thursday and Friday and he must now isolate for seven days before being tested again. Norwich are at home to Southampton on Friday. One individual at another club, as yet unidentified, also tested positive.

The Norwich player who tested positive for coronavirus in the last round of tests has now returned a negative sample, the club’s sporting director has said.

The Premier League club confirmed the positive test on Saturday, which came after they had played a friendly against Tottenham the day before.

Stuart Webber told the Beautiful Game podcast that the player in question had now tested negative, and would undergo further tests.

“Luckily the player in question is completely fine, 100 per cent, there’s nothing wrong with him,” he said.

“He’s actually done an independent test with our doctor which has come back negative, which is confusing, so now he’s got to have a third test to see if that comes back negative and to check if he’s got antibodies which could prove that he has had it in the past but doesn’t have it now.

“The main thing is that he’s healthy and the rest of the group are healthy, but it’s a good wake-up call. We’ve done all of these measures and one of us could still get it, that’s quite scary really.”

France are the first country to allow fans back.
5,000 will be allowed from July 11th - french cups to resume. Ligue 1 & 2 of course null and void.

The Everton v Liverpool game yesterday broke the UK tv audience record in the prem era with 5m watching.

Not sure it'll be beaten either as the rest of the free-to-air matches don't have any big games.

FFP will be suspended, wealthy clubs like PSG and Man City will be told to spend in order to keep the market from crashing.

Whilst they won't be told to spend, there's gonna be an opportunity for City, PSG, possibly Newcastle, & even Everton, to take advantage of the inevitable lifting of restrictions on owners providing cash stimulus to clubs, even more so when most other clubs won't be spending big.
