Can't wait to find out what their training kit looks like.
Eh? I don’t get it.
The updates on all things Rangers (including their new training kit) was a joy to me and I look forward to the same now that Gerrard is at Villa.
Quite excited by this. Villa are a proper club. He'll have to win games and win them well if he hopes to survive
I’ve no doubt he’ll succeed there. Top 6 this season.
This season? They are barely outside the bottom 3 at the moment
Pfft...he'll get them relegated.
Me too. Quite like Villa. Good move for him. Hopefully they'll give him time and money. Top half this season would be a good start.
Posted in the other thread - They have lost 5 league games in a row and it’s not an easy start: Brighton and Crystal Palace who are both doing well, followed by games against Man City, Leicester and Liverpool.
What if he’s a flop, would we take him on as our manager?
No chance of top 6, if he gets them any higher than 12th he will have done well.
By doing so he will also keep Newcastle up, thus ending the short future we hoped we'd at least have left to enjoy.
Top half finish would be a good achievement this season. Great way to prove himself in the Premier league.
Villa are a big club, good financial backing and ambitious. Can see him attracting some decent players in the future.
Would be quite sad if he flops and will follow the Villa games now with some interest.
Anfield will be rocking on the 11th December when we play Villa.
Hopefully not. Hoping we don't anyway.
Really didn't think he'd go in middle of season, strange decision for me...he'd have had many opportunities in summer to change clubs with the number of sackings there are nowdays.
If he doesn't make top half with Villa this season it's a failure.
Even with the “better” season they had last season, they “only” finished 11th. Given their poor start and if you consider ”Big 6” + Leicester and West Ham will finish in the front 8 spots, it’s quite a big ask to finish in top half imo. Hopefully ~12-14 + clear style of play + good game and player management.
Comes back to Anfield in exactly a months time.
I cannot see that.
Villa can fuck off. Remember them celebrating every goal against our kids in the league cup? I hope the earth swallows up the club.
It's a fairly logical move for him, though it'll be interesting to see if some kind of investment is on the horizon. As much as a middling Premiership Club is sort of the next stepping stone, if Stevie has any aspirations of managing us one day, they're in a bit of a shit place at the minute and he has nearly two months of working with what he's got and trying to make them punch above their weight a bit, before being handed money to spend in a notoriously difficult January market.
