Liverpool v Manchester City Post Match

Btw, Wijnaldum is our player of the season so far, the silky bastard. Quietly doing a Hendo+1 thing. Great news, and glad he stayed.

Any updates on Milner?

We need a few easy opponents to get our flow back. There was almost zero creativity from midfield today. Mainly because City brilliantly subdued us and forced our players to go for floated balls into the box.
Anyway, considering that we're in a bit of dip atm, I like so many others here am perfectly OK with the result.

Nearly by every possible marker, they deserved the win.

Thankfully, they fucked it.

Absolute bollocks. You’ve been taken in by the commentary.
Totally agree.. dont know where that shit is coming from - we were on the offensive throughout that game ... the issue is as it has been for this season thus far which is the front link up play. Its just not clicking for us.

Also i was really glad to see the forward play today as the passing was faster..what we lack is someone in the middle to drive through the middle .. too many times we were forced to go wide. We dont have Ox but Keita is not living upto expectations of his fee. I saw instances where he put himself in the middle but no one was making the pass.

I thought Gomez and Gini had a great game..and Salah was the best attacker.

Why? They had the best chance of the game. We created a few chances, but not one really troubled Ederson.

I agree. I was at the game so didn’t hear any commentary.

I thought they were the better team, had better chances, and prob should have won the game.

I’m delighted with a point.

Our game is heavily based around pressing and energy.

We've just played Spurs, PSG, Chelsea twice, Napoli and City.

That's 5 of the best possession based sides in Europe (in a row).

When our legs were at 100%, we won games and created chances (Spurs, PSG). Towards the back end on the run, when our legs weren't 100%, our pressing game was off and we struggled. But that's to be expected.

Today what was encouraging was that we remembered to play football and keep the ball. We didn't try and counter attack after every time we won the ball. That gave us some rest (in possession). And meant we weren't absolutely dead on our feet around 80mins, as were in Naples.

No one deserved to win that. Didn’t think it was a shit game, just two technically gifted teams cancelling each other out.

Early days I know but I’ve seen nothing from Keita so far to live up to the hype.

I thought Henderson and Gini played really well.

Gomez made some great runs down the wing but I really don’t like him at right back. He’s not quick enough feet and thinking wise when pressed into a confined space.

City fans were walking away from Anfield singing their heads off as if they’d won. They’re a weird bunch that lot.

What are you guys talking about ? They did fuck all...its the most defensive I have ever seen them play while under Pep.

Ox was a laughing stock after his first month or so. Keita has shown glimpses of class. But right now he's playing too safe and isn't running with the ball enough (one of his main strengths. I do wonder whether playing him on the left of CM has hurt him, as Mane drops in deep and kills that space. I think, like Ox, he'd be better served playing on the right.

And I'm struggling to remember this multitude of efforts on goal City had - 2 shots from Mahrez (apart from the penalty) - that was it.

It’s a good result for them.

Draw away and win at home against your title rivals, and you won’t be far off winning the league.

Just reaffirms they're still a small time club - celebrating a draw that doesn't even give you an advantage points wise. Odd.

Pre Match

I DON’T know about you but my bottle has gone, here.
Realised this morning that if The Reds want to win the league we probably need to win today and I now can’t function.
Couple this with me reading Bruce Grobbelaar’s interview the other day where he casually dropped into convo, almost as a side note, that The Reds won’t win the league if he doesn’t play, because a witch doctor put a jinx on us the last time we won the league.
Fuck’s sake Brucie, are you messing? Yer lads, didn’t I mention it? Fucking hell, you should have said.
All he needs to do is piss on every goal post, apparently. He did two of them in 2014 but someone stopped him doing the other two. Someone fucking stopped him. Fucking fuck me with a fucking big shovel.
Why isn’t there calls to get him pissing his cock off till the pitch is flooded? Make a massive big Brucie giant, get a squad of French fellas with ropes and a fucking stupid dog to bounce up the ground and box it off. Three fellas ring that Brucie bell, he whips his shorts down, three more fellas ring his bell, he gets his massive cock out shaped like a big giant bottle of Kopparberg, let’s rip all over the pitch, and The Reds romp to victory.

Full Time

Jesus Christ, that was stressful.
Alisson: 7
He’s boss, isn’t he? Fucking big Ronseal ‘keeper. Got “he will be boss” written all over him.
Joe Gomez: 8
Thought he was excellent and made a great player look shite. He’s bigger and stronger than everyone he comes up against and has got a head on him. Boss.
Degsy: 8
Like Ringo, isn’t he? The best drummer in the world but not even the best one in our defence. Or something. Two great tackles there second half.
Virg: 8
Imperious. Not sure if it was a pen or not but he didn’t deserve it. What a fella. Hope he knocks shit out of their battle bus With a massive big Northy balaclava on.
Robbo: 8
Great defensively, couldn’t get going the other way, but in fairness they defended brilliantly so what do you want him to do?
Henderson: 8
Played well, there. Ticked it over, kept the ball, despite a ridiculous level of bellendery screaming at him to get it forward. They weren’t playing a team of scruffs, you know. They were defensively brilliant, their shape was boss, they done to us what we do to them.
Milner: n/a
Fucked.
Gini: 8
Thought he was excellent today.
Mo Salah: 7
He was good again without being at his best. A threat all day, but could do with someone to join in with the front three. Missing Oxo-Chambo, y’know.
Bob: 7
Grafted and made a nuisance of himself. Did nothing wrong in a massive game of chess.
Sadio: 6
Thought he struggled today y’know. Nearly boss, but his touch was off and his threat was missing as a result. That said, they were boss. Have I said how boss they were?
SUBS
Keita: 6
Feels like we need more off him, y’know. He’s the one who need to break the lines and he’s not quite there.
Dan Sturridge: 6
Nearly.

I don't think it is an excuse to point at the 'nightmare' list of fixtures and say that all in all, we've done fucking well, and we did well today despite looking down on our normal energy levels. The best news is that even when we're misfiring up top, we now have a defence that always gives us a chance of points. It has been a long long time since we have had that mentality. The international break comes at a good time for us, and we can look forward to a series of fixtures that should allow us to get a better attacking rhythm going.

Also, them missing the peno makes this feel, akin to the Sturridge goal, like we've pulled one out of the fire. This is going to be a good year.

What a grin hahaha
