Find me a game where Henderson has better stats than he does defensively.
I dont need to, I've seen them both play this season.
Best player on the park today. I don't particularly like him or want him in the team. We can do better.
But today was his game and he was superb. Nothing more to say really.
I said on the pre match thread yesterday that I wouldn't mind him as DM for this game. It was set up for him.
But lets not get the bunting out. The next two games of Bournemouth and Stoke are NOT set up for him. He creates very little.
Whatever. Did you just erase pre Christmas from your selective memory?
Comparing Lucas and Henderson is like comparing the taste of lard or Vaseline- They are both pretty indifferent.
I don't have a problem with Hendo, but he's not much more than an above average player. Yet - when he's not there we miss him like fuck.
Simply superb today.
His reading of the game in the DM role is 2nd to none at the club currently.
Let's not forget to he's had fuck all games in the middle this season mostly starting and playing well at CB.
For all the hate he's actually having a decent season.
Obviously we need better to challenge but as a squad player I've no issues with our longest serving player hanging around.
We were definitely missing a midfield general today. Whenever we managed to get the ball into the final third, Coutinho, Firmino and Mané pissed all over Everton. The difficulty was getting the ball up there. Henderson can do the job, although not brilliantly. I can't really see Stewart doing it. We need to invest in the summer transfer window I think.
Nope, he's had some good games, but he's just not the right player for the DM position like I've said all season.
Lucas isn't either but when he plays well we get a small sample of how it is having a real DM in that position.
I see a stability in our midfield that I rarely see with Henderson playing there.
I think an important factor was Can playing alongside him. He did most of the leg work which meant that Lucas could play to his strengths. He never really had players running at him during the game. Did we miss Henderson today? I don't think so.
Oh fuck off with this nonsense, every couple of months you're back with this drivel.
Well, be happy it's not more frequently then.
It is a 100% fact that his performance today would have annoyed plenty of posters on here.
His best game in ages no doubt about it, same for Lovren and Milner.
It's his supporters (see dreambeleiver's posts in the match thread) that annoy plenty of posters....not his performance.
Embarrassing cheer leader who hang on to even the slightest positive thing he does and shout DID YOU SEE THAT.....I swear if he was sitting next to me, I would have stabbed him...
He had a good game, there is no need to qualify that with anything for or against him. He was far from the most important player of the game as was being made out...
True. Must be the 4th time I've been annoyed in the 10 years we've had him. Loved him the other 330 games.
The problem with Lucas is he can't dictate the tempo so isn't a midfield general. While he isn't quick enough to be a DM against the bigger and quicker counter attacking teams, so gives away silly fouls and gets booked. Hence we get frustrated.
He was never man of the match.
Coutinho was brilliant. 1 assist, 1 goal, 1 amazing run pulling the defenders away for the first goal, 2 other shots on target and should have had another assist.
Lucas was great, owned the midfield, but Coutinho won the game almost by himself. Not having Lucas motm at all.
Oh and I also thought Wijnaldum was brilliant again.
When we win a derby game 3-1, I doubt anyone are annoyed.
Klopp appreciates him. He will be here next season.
