Thinks he owns the place

According to the Mail his representatives were at Anfield on saturday. Anyone seen him play? I was impressed last season and at Stamford Bridge this season.

Can't see Spurs signing him, they have a million midfielders as it is. Priority for them has to be to find a striker surely? Adebeyor's shite and Defoe's off to MLS.

Watch him sign for Spurs now....

I've never seen him play but based on that YouTube he's no better than ibe or sterling.

Seems very pacey and direct. Can play in any attacking midfield/winger position and is a goalthreat. 17 in 75 for Basel and 17 in 24 for Egypt. Still only 21 years old. Hope we sign him.

Dont see the point of signing someone like him at all when we have ibe and sterling. He's like an egyptian aaron lennon.

How many goals have Ibe or Sterling scored vs Chelsea?

This guy is Coutihno quality. Maybe more of a winger/goalscorer type than a playmaker.

Whats the point though if he's a winger, Rodgers has shown us that we're going to play 2 up front and no wingers if Sturridge and Suarez are fit.

Assaidi, Ibe, Sterling, Moses, Aspas - none have got a sniff with the top two fit, do we spend money on another bench warming wide man?

No - he's not at that level. He's good, but he's going to cost us (it seems) more than Coutinho if stories are to be believed and that position isn't as pressing as a CM !

Don't think Salah is the player we need. I've seen him play a few times, hasn't impressed me, especially when Ghana stuffed Egypt in WC qualifiers.

Him and another guy who's name begins with S, fuck can't think of it, have always looked very dangerous for Basel every time I've seen them play.

Strella or something?

Like I said ive never seen him play, but based on that clip he's no coutinho level player but more aaron lennon or townsend. Do we really need a winger when we have ibe and sterling developing? Personally I think we should be focussing on our central midfield area and left back.

I think Salah is much further in his development than Sterling and Ibe; he can improve us now as opposed to 2 or 3 years from now. He makes right decisions with the ball and has the technique to execute his decisions. I also think he is more unpredictable than Lennon or Townsend.

Basel, Eygpt (without prejudice are there any decent Arab players in the premiership ? ), poor attitude - why bother when it would just be a punt ?

Pass.

Agree with the posters who say hes not what we really need, a tricky little winger is not a priority.

Don't even think a striker is priority either, Sturridge will be back before long and Suarez is made of iron, as long as we have 2 of Coutinho, Suarez and Sturridge fit we will be allright till the summer.

Doubt it will happen in Jan but if we signed 2 high quality midfielders then the team would take on a whole different slant and would be so much stronger for it, hopefully we can get 1 at least and maybe a loan.

A left back would be handy to though i'ld rather the budget is entirely spent on a midfielder or 2, only if the required quality is available though.

Amir Zaki!, remember him? i was duped, thought he was the bollocks, great goal at Anfield and plenty of others in that purple patch.

Strange strikers like him, start off looking the nuts and then go to shit much like Jelavic, theres a thread on one of the Everton forums 'Jelavic v Suarez', if anyone ever wants a good laugh or cheering up look it up.

This is where I disagree with most of the posters here. I think an attacking midfielder/winger is MUCH more of a priority for us than a CM/DM. I really don't get all the people who think a M'Villa or Wanyama would improve us so much. Lucas might not be the best DM in the world, but he is not that bad really and far from our main problem. I'm not at all sure M'Villa is a better player than Lucas right now (his team is currently 11th out of 16 in Russian Premier league and I didn't hear any particular plaudits about his performance from pundits or fans), but even if he were, for the team as a whole it would be a marginal gain at best.

I think a quality attacker like Mkhitaryan or Konoplyanka or, in this case, Salah would improve us much more. People say we are ok on the wings but lacking in CM – but right now the fact of the matter is that we have a CM (Henderson) playing on the wings – he has started every single game and has a grand total of 1 goal and 1 assist in all competitions to show for it. We also have Moses, who is talented but doesn't work hard enough on the pitch to be a starter for Rodgers, Aspas who didn't settle well and a couple of talented and raw kids. Combined, all of our "attacking midfield" players have 4 goals and 3 assists in all competitions – a really paltry return with the season approaching the half-point.

I think that's a big problem, especially now that our second-best striker (Sturridge) and our top assist man (Gerrard) are both out until late January. Who is going to replace them? If you could pick any player in the world to make our team stronger, do you really think a Mascherano who replaces Lucas would make more of a difference than, say a Ribery who replaces Sterling, Henderson or Moses? If we had a really fearsome attacker to complement Suarez and Coutinho, teams would be afraid to cross halfway line when playing us and Allen, Henderson and Lucas (+ Gerrard when he is back) would manage CM between them with no problems.

I don't doubt the need for more quality attacking midfielders it's just the term winger I'm hung up on, we're playing with our fullbacks to give us width and the likes of Henderson and Coutinho are playing inside of them. We don't need actual wide men at the moment, a clever Coutinho, Silva, Mata type would be great but any midfielder who likes to get chalk on their boots doesn't suit the current system imo.

A Mkhitaryan to play through the middle would be excellent or another Coutinho, a top left back would probably add a great deal too in an attacking sense.

Sure, but you know I'm not advocating buying another Downing. We should be after players who are comfortable on the wing, but can play in a variety of attacking positions and are intelligent to interchange with their teammates, make runs and find space. My ideal "winger" is someone like Reus or Müller. Salah seems to be exactly that type of player: versatile, quick, skillful, and with good eye for a pass.
