Vikings are a good side. Always there or there about.
Plus who doesn't like Purple.
Plus obviously I don't know a Vikings fan so that is perfect for me.
I am a Cowboys fan and I'm not a thunderous cunt because Andy likes me.
You are a Cowboys fan - you love long suffering teams who's fans think we can still be great and always have one great year every 7-8 and their hopes get destroyed by something shit.
I've already got one bellend club like that, I don't need a second
I can't believe I didn't get to you first...change to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Watch the clip I put on my FB today. Then tell me you've changed your mind.
Whilst I massively appreciate Foles because he's a boss, and the general underdog vibe... I can't go straight to supporting Superbowl winners. That'd make me no better than no good Pats fan's !......right?
What you fail to mention is that the Cowboys are Americas self appointed team. In other words, the Man Utd of the NFL.
They also really hate the Eagles. So it's like Liverpool v Man U but in the US. Plus everybody hates the Eagles apparently.
It's fine, I'll have your back.
Foles was like an iceman. Unbelievable performances in both the NFC championship game (beating Vikings) and the Super Bowl.
Eagles have no superstars. They're a team not galacticos.
Vikings is a good shout.
Now i've been reading the rules. The 2 things I don't get are 1) safety's and 2) downs
Re: 2) i get the drives and downs, but I saw spin mentioning "4th and 1" earlier. What? Is that the 4th quarter 1st down, or something else

No. Each sequence of plays each team has 4 goes to move the ball 10 yards. If they move the ball 10 yards they get a new set (4) more downs.
So for example.
Vikings get the ball on the opposition 30 yard line.
First down they run the ball 3 yards.
So they now sit 2nd and 7 (second down and 7 yards to go)
Then they throw for 2 yards.
So now they sit 3rd and 5 (third down and 5 yards to go)
On the third okay they run the ball 10 yards.
So they have a new set of downs and sit 1st and 10 on the opponents 15 yard line.
The important part here to note is that if you use all 4 of your plays without getting the 10 yards the opponent gets the ball from exactly where you were stopped.
So most teams in most occasions only use 3 of their 4 downs and on the 4th down they punt the ball so that when the opponent has it back they are much further away from their goal.
If you watch one full game start to finish you will understand downs.
Oh and safetys could mean two things.
A safety is when you take down an opponent player in their own endzone. You get 2 points for that.its very rare
There are also players called safetys.
They are defenders who play back of the line of scrimmage their primary job is to stop wide receivers catching the ball down the field.
People don't hate the Eagles as a team - they hate their fans, who boo partially paralyzed players, Santa Clause and every single player from the city they dislike.
Horrible horrible fans, bar you and a few other Igglet fans ...
Listen, if you want to know how difficult it is to be a sports fan - be a Cowboys and Liverpool fan like me ... I've not tasted the 'ultimate' wins for 50+ years combined (22 yeras for the boys, almost 30 for the Reds) ... It's easy to be an Eagles fan, stay away!
When I pick a team, I also study the history of the city and whether you feel a connection to its roots. One of the reasons I started following LFC was the working class connection of the city. I was in Austin for 6 years. I loved Texas. But I never felt that connection to Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans. Of course, I was following college football and did not bother with NFL that much. When I moved, the connection to Pittsburgh came naturally.
Downs are like tackles in rugby league except in NFL you have 4 downs to progress 10 yards either via rushing or passing.
The thing is, it's a wonderful tactical battle between the players on the pitch and the coaches and the play callers and play designers.
For example. The play call by the Eagles on 4th down at the end of the first half when most teams would've taken the easy field goal. The coach thought ahead, decided that a TD builds a 2 score lead AND the play call was so unexpected it shows a seed in the other teams mind of how things go.
Also, the Eagles were hitting their receiver Jeffery with ease in first half. Second half the Pats changed their man coverage to put a different player on him. That player was his college mate. This nullified that threat.
The Pats also struggled to hit their main pass receiver, Gronkowski, in the first half due to the Eagles defence coverage. 2nd half the Pats looked for man for man coverage defensive formations and then made sure Gronkowski was up against players who were much smaller - Gronkowski is a huge unit. Result? Virtually every pass was going to him and was completed including passes for TDs. This deflates the opposition and results in panicky plays leaving the sucker punch wide open.
The thing is, yeah it's highly commercialised, yeah it's very stop start. But that Super Bowl was pure theatre for most people. If you know the game a little deeper then it was even better. Can't recommend the miked up highlights enough to provide another insight into the sport. Just the comments from the refs to the players before and during the game are illuminating. Come and join the NFL club!
Maybe get tickets for one of the U.K. Games in October? I'll put you up and go with you. Just to keep you away from that Steelers meff...
I've been to Austin a far few times in recent years. First off, it's a great town. Friendly and diverse and not how most would expect a Texan city to be.
Secondly, there's little love for the Cowboys down there. They love their college team. The Longhorns! I've met many, many Texans from the Austin, San Antonio, New Braunfels region. About 10% had a good word to say about the Cowboys. That did surprise me.
Boo your last statement.
Easy waiting 52 years for a Super Bowl. Yeah right...
Well, it is easy now ...
Stop going on about the fucking EAGLES man!!!
